objective here? You trying to get everyone super pumped for basketball so if State doesn't meet expectations everyone will want Stansbury fired? We made the NIT last year. I'm excited for this season but you're not fooling me.

we have a very talented team, and that there are high expectations that should be met. Over the years, the Stans Apologists have had rallying cry after rallying cry shot down. Their last possible defense of him- "Stans hasnt had a Tourney run because of lack of NBA talent on the team" has now become a reality- he has NBA talent on the team. So, should he fail, they will be completely out of excuses. They have nothing left. And they know it- thus the reason they are trying to downplay the expectations for this season. <div>
</div><div>As far as The Recruiter being fired- if he misses the NCAA's- he's gone- Strick knows it and he knows it. If he makes the Tourney, he stays- regardless of how it turns out. So there is no agenda by me to sway anybody of importance decision on the matter- it's very cut and dried at this point.
</div><div>
</div><div>I just want us to have the kind of season we should with the talent we have on the team.</div>

Hey, dubmass. Exactly what constitutes being a "Stans apologist"? No one on here defends everything Stans does and if he does not win and win big this year then he needs to go. We just get sick of your incessant bitching and making the board damn near unreadable during basketball season.

excited for the season. Last year was awesome! VCU and Butler made the final four. What would you do if Stansbury took this team all the way to a National Championship? Just curious I know it won't happen.

starting QB from last year in the SEC ... we returned most of the offensive starters and a lot of def. starters (aside from the obvious loss of our NFL talent ) ... given our defensive play this year (which was expected to be less capable) we "should" have been bad asses this year ... but it just didn't turn out like we expected ... are you gonna start hating on Dan now ?

MSU Football doesn't have a talent deficiency? News to me.

CBS is saying we should win 25 games- that means 25-6 headed into the SEC Tourney- that is a 3-4 or 5 seed at worst in the NCAA Tourney- <div>
</div><div>Almost nobody picked us to be better than 6th in the SEC before the season in football- huge difference....especially when we lost 4 NFL players- including a 1st rounder</div><div>
</div><div>terrible post Lyle- please do better next time</div>

Even though you called me out at the top.

Because I have been critical of Stansbury on multiple occassions. Just like I have been critical of some of Mullen's decisions this year. Yet I am still glad he is our coach. But this year is the year for Stansbury to produce.

I think you realize that Stans has a real good shot at making the tournament. And even a decent shot at getting past the first weekend. That's why you are pushing the overhype agenda. So at the end of the day, you can still say "...with the talent he had he should have at least made it to (whatever the next level would be)"

Not defending anybody, just an honest question.

Right now, I don't see one player who has<span style="font-style: italic;"> shown</span> that they could play in the league except maybe Bost. Hood hasn't played at all yet. Moultrie's only competition was in CUSA. Sidney has yet to show the effort to keep himself in shape for what a league player needs.

Do all 4 of them have potential for it? Yes. However, I can't find a single site that currently has any of them in the first round.

Honestly, right now the best thing this team has going for it is that Kodi Augustus isn't playing on it anymore.

You picked us to be 10-2 for what it is worth.

Most of the national media picked us to be 4th in the west and 5th overall (behind USCe) in the SEC. Our football team was ranked to start the season; what is our basketball team ranked?

both preseason polls had us ranked as the number 6 team in the SEC- AP had Georgia and SC ahead of us, USA Today had Auburn and SC ahead of us- but 6th in both nonetheless

Look, dipshit, just because I don't blindly agree with your bash-Stans-all-the-time ******** you spew on here doesn't mean I've never said a negative thing about him. I've been disappointed in his results, and have stated such here. I've grown tired of the drama, and have said so. The transfers bother me. And I've expressed that too.

Just because I don't always agree with your dubmass ramblings and constant bashing, doesn't make me some Stans ***-kisser. You don't have to come up with gay nicknames for the coach you don't like to be cool.

I'm sure if your buddies Brady and Gottfried were coaching us you would be saying we would be top ten material. The SEC is going to be damn good this year in basketball and the top 6 teams are much better than the top six teams in football. Throw LSU and Bama out and the football is not very good. Don't ever hear you bringing those points up. Hopefully we will have a good idea where we are after the New York trip but meanwhile, give us a break and let it play out.

SEC football has 4 teams ranked in the top 10....F-O-U-R....SC and UPig are both 7-1.... <div>

And said that he normally doesn't go by "CBS".

He also said that he stated that MSU could win 25 games. In his own words, "You'll know when I make a 17ing prediction."

out that preseason speculation, rankings, expectations, and hype dont always pan out ... the games have to be played before anyone really knows ...even LSU & Bama have been upset by trap games in the past ... not to mention factoring in the other teams that may have a better year than they usually do, ie - Vandy, S. Carolina.... and even Texas Tech ... or it can go the other way - (UGA & Florida) last year ....... just because outsiders say we should or should not do well in any given year is no reason to start bashing before the first game is even played

2. Anyone who finds anything positive about MSU basketball

3. Anyone who say something good about Coach Stan or cannot find something to ***** about how he handles the game... even in a win... especially in a win.

You are right about one thing, it does make the board unreadable during basketball season. My tendency to check the page drops about 80% once basketball starts compared to the other seasons simply because I get tired of seeing page long threads about the same **** over and over again like I cannot read and comprehend it the first time.

You will feel better once you accept the fact that you can read a Coach34 thread about any sport at MSU except basketball and actually read something different and sometimes even enlightening.

But not basketball.

and we're not in the CBS(Ok, Gary Parrish) Top 26, yet they think we'll go 25-6 which would most likely lead to a Top 15 ranking. Something doesn't quite add up here.

Exactly.

Not only that, but even having a good season is no predictor of post-season success. Every year teams who had a good season bow out of the tournament early. That's because post-season success is largely determined by match-ups. Which is basically luck of the draw and key reason Stans hasn't had more success than he has had in the NCAA tourney.

C34 is just a jackass who is trying to lay the groundwork for his nonsensical bitching before the season begins. It won't work and common sense will bear out in the end. Of which C34 has none.

CBS says we "can" win 25 games, not "should."

Since you always backtrack on your prognostications when they turn out inaccurately, I'm glad to see your favorite game of mincing words applies to others' words as well.
