"You believed that? In the middle of the season you think there would be SEC inter-divisional coaching talks between the two?
Seems a bit far fetched, but I guess it wouldnt surprise me since I have not a clue."

I see Gus waiting on a better job. Thats just me. I think he has built a resume up to get a better gig than UM. After seeing Mullen's situation, it makes you wonder...

I could see Ole Missoffering a ridiculous amount of moneyto try and gethim though. I think Malzahn has been around the SEC long enough to know how hard it is for schools like State and Ole Miss to consistently compete. He can probably hold out for just about any job that comes open.

Funny comment in the replies about Malzhan not being the most overrated coach in the state if he gets the job.

he's still happy with his decision....what we are about to see is living proof about how much better the MSU job is than the ole miss job...

ole miss got dirt lucky with nutt falling into their lap..... you are about to see the circus begin just like it did when they hired O.... nobody wants to coach at that **** hole... a fan base that thinks they deserve to be in the upper echilon of the SEC...have one bad season and your on their **** list; high percentage of black players to recruit to a school named after the slave master's wife.... high level of cheating having to happen just to get a mid tier class signed...

compare our last hire with what ole miss is getting ready to have to go thru and you'll see how much the coaches around the country know about the hell hole that is ole miss...the mazahln is no more prestigous or wanted than mullen was and mazahln is not going to consider them.....

He would try to recruit AR & AL because of his contacts, and he could bring Frazier with him, as he has a redshirt to burn. Gives him at least a year to work on his O-line and with Brassell, Moncrief, and singleton.

though admittedly, I've never been a huge fan. I can't put my finger on it, but I've just got a feeling he won't be a very good head coach.

If he's holding out for an elite job with no head coaching experience, there's a good chance he may be waiting for the rest of his career. Not many of those jobs go to an assistant (Richt & Muschamp are two exceptions, and the jury is still very much still out on Muschamp). It's one thing to turn the Vandy job down. It's a very different thing to turn the Mississippi job down.

He's not likely to get a big time job, but there are probably lots of ACC teams or Big 12 teams that would like to have him where it'd be easier for him to win 8-9 games a year, which probably would put those big time jobs within reach.

I would agree though that unless his agent has info on another job, or unless he sees several potential openings coming up that he would prefer more, seems likely he would take the UM job if offered. Especially since he was even willing to entertain the Vandy job (although he may have just been worried that his stock was going to drop because of the NCAA investigation).

What I meant was, it is hard as hell to recruit in MS. Mullen was the young fiery new head coach and so far, he has fallen flat on his face with recruiting. If I were Malzahn, I would take notice to that. I know UM has recruited well, but they still dont compare to other schools. I would just think that Malzahn would go somewhere that he had a solid recruiting base and a fat check.

I think its partly because of the fact that he was coaching Arkansas high school ball only six years ago, and by all accounts only got the gig at Arkansas because of Mitch Mustain.

Give Skip Holtz a call. He's gotta be looking to get off the sinking ship known as the Big East.

Not even Ole Miss is dumb enough to actively recruit a coach while they still have a current coach. I don't buy it.

Me too sterling. Something just doesn't seem right about him. He's a great offensive coach, but I don't think he would make my top 3 list for HC.

Why not just you go start another thread about how bad a job Mullen has done and how high we would be ranked if we'd just hired your boy?

come your pants this very second if you thought it were true.

I'm fine with him coming to OM. Just set him up with one of those stupid *** contracts your entire law school didnt know was a bad move and the second he gets into
trouble again, we'll be looking at the next set of full page ads.

I was originally kind of perplexed that a 17ing law school is now wondering how they got into such a ****** situation like Nutts contract.

Then a couple of you come over here and erase all doubt as to why.

this has nothing to do with my boy. its funny all the people willing to tell me how creepy I am or how big a dumbass I am. Before the season started the debate here was "which game will gameday be here for?" now all of a sudden its "poor Mullen in a situation where he can't win." 17 that. I was responding to a thread. Get the 17 over it. Your right...Mullen is doing fantastic.

the country. How bout how La Tech is really a good team. or maybe we can talk about how terrible our fanbase is because 50 percent of them would rather watch a real Sec game than come to homecoming and watch us struggle with ut martin. all signs of the great job Dan is doing.
