I just seen on the sportscenter site where they hammered the women's bball team over this lmao. Took a couple schollys from the football team and banned the women's team from postseason play. Seems legit. Sexist f@$!s

They are looking at double digit reduction of scholarships, possibly a multi season bowl ban and/or forfeiting of wins, some coaches being terminated. . This doesn't include Tunsil's draft night confession on national TV. Thought them being a small school with a small alumni base would bite them and looks like it has. This may even get Freeze if he has to testify in the case involving Tunsil's stepfather, who does have subpoena power. He will have to admit knowing what was going on or face jail time for perjury if they decided to charge him. He is wanting his testimony to be sealed.

Don't see how they can ignore the football team, 13 of the violations were against the football team, 11 under freeze, 8 were level 1, the most serious, and the Tunsil deal isn't included. People will lose jobs over this, wins could be lost and OM is saying double digit scholarships lost now on one of their sites.

Yeah grump you need to go read that sportscenter article. They even list all the stuff the football team did then try to make the argument that all the coaches that facilitated it are already gone and they've cut ties with accused boosters. They had a used car dealer handing out free rides to football only players, have interest free loans for down payments (which means they were just taking that much off the top of the sticker price) and then ban the women's basketball team from postseason play. If I were a coach or player for their women's team I'd be singing like a bird about everything I knew about. Sounds like a big pile of doo doo to me.

You guys realize these are just self-imposed sanctions, right? The NCAA can impose harsher punishment. It needs to include a football bowl ban. Losing 11 scholarships over 4 years and the other crap is pretty weak.

I read part of it, eyes got unfocused, Harris, Kiffin and Freeze are still there and are mentioned quite often in the report. A good bit of the recruiting things taking place was with one kid that jumped on the OM bandwagon very late in the process. When Freeze said he welcomed an investigation, lol, looks like he was bluffing. Transportation, food and lodging for unofficials, cater meals, free use of rental cars for months. And that is what they are admitting to, Tunsil taking cash while there hasn't been addressed yet. I saw an article that said 15 lost scholarships over 3 years OM is trying to get the six they were short in the 16 class to count and only 9 more to be lost. Too much on them, I think its going to be pretty tough sanctions coming their way.

Yeah that's what I was referring to. If the NCAA goes for these self imposed and agrees to no post season ban and only 6 lost schollys over the next 3 years then that's pretty weak. And if I'm Stoops and I ain't cheating I'd damn sure start. With all they had goin on and all the stuff they admitted to then saying "here we'll hammer the girls and call it even" and thinking that's gonna fly. If these self imposed sanctions is all they get outta this I'd be handing out Ben Franklins and muscle cars to every recruit on an official.

Unfortunately, the NCAA is too lazy, too intimidated, too incompetent (or any combination of all three) to seriously investigate anyone anymore. The cynic in me says that they will accept Ole Miss self-imposed sanctions and close the file. Then, they can go back to persecuting politically incorrect team nicknames and harassing state governments over various gay rights and other progressive causes.

Bye Coach Freeze. It was real, it was fun. Sorry to see you go. Just remember, next time, never hire anyone named Kiffin.

What's amazing is the difference between fan bases. Fellow sec schools fans say they should be hammered.
You go to the UL board 9/10 of them say that nothing should be done to UNC. Lol.

Another story has them losing 11, or OM suggesting 11, NCAA hasn't approved that number yet. They still have Tunsil admitting to taking money from coaches to deal with. I think several of the violations were involving Tunsil and his family but the names were blacked out and could have been anyone, but it was at the time he was being recruited to OM. I remember Freeze tweeting if anyone had proof of OM committing violations to present them to the OM compliance office a couple days after signing day in 13, apparently someone did.

OM, unlike UNC, isn't one of the NCAA's golden programs, a small school with a small alumni base, SEC won't come to bat for them like they would for Bama, or some of the other larger schools. I would be surprised if losing 11 scholarships over 4 years will satisfy the NCAA in this case, post season ban for at least 1 year, maybe 2 with OM having to reimburse SEC schools with lost income from their missed bowl would get their attention I think.

Any institution that has even a hint of academic /athletic issue should tell the NCAA to take a hike until they (NCAA) re-visit the UNC case, said institution should address the issue themselves(if they so desire) and tell the NCAA they will file suit if they(NCAA) lift a finger to sanction the school.

No one is forcing OM or anyone else to be a part the NCAA, if you don't like the rules, don't like how they are enforced leave. OM knew the rules, chose not to play by them, taunted anyone who questioned them and have admitted to violations

And they aren't the only ones either. Unfortunately lots of others have gotten away with a slap on the wrist or NOTHING of any consequence, I include hurtt's U and Thug U in that group, but some others are holding their breath waiting to see what happens to them.

Yeah, you are right and cheating is cheating but this selective enforcement and dancing around issues by the NCAA has to be called out by member institutions.Lawsuits or refusing to play/schedule some of the blatant cheaters is about the only recourse left to schools that try to play be the rules
