It really was a great look. And I never noticed the rivets (I'm assuming that's what they are?) at the bottom before.

Was such a dumb idea to go with the Trenton Devils name in Flyers country.

The Brooklyn Cyclones is another good local individual name and design.
Yep, Titans games were cool because you had Flyers fans, Rangers fans, and Devils fans all rooting for the same team. Then the Devils took over and alienated most of the fanbase and it wasn't long before they folded.

$50 for 4 seats/4 hot dogs/4 sodas/4 bags of chips and parking was $5.

The NJD just secured a "better to be lucky than good" 2 points. This team still looks lethargic to me. As a fan that wants to win, I will take it even though I hate giving a point to a division rival. Beats the alternative.

I like the construct of the new lines and the fact they want a match up 3rd line that’s defensive oriented.
Let’s see what GG does with it.
I just see a first round exit coming as Gallant will never change and he won’t have Vezina level Shesterkin and a great power play to cover up the team’s flaws.

My big hope for the rest of the season is that they don’t make big, stupid, deadline moves because they could trade away all of the young players and draft picks to get Meier and Chychrun and this still isn’t a cup team with Gallant in charge.

Always happy to listen to Sam Rosen when the NJD are not on. He used to do Giants Preseason games on WPIX when I was a kid.

Speaking of announcers with NYR ties, Ryan Callahan is doing games for ESPN+. Still early, but I think we have a star in the making. He has been great.

Diehard Devils fans have heard this before.

“It’s a Power Play Goal, FU Sam Rosen!”

Yes I don't want to hear that call when we play the Rangers, however he is very good at what he does. Yes, it could be partly due to him doing preseason Giants games, but all in all he is one of the best.

Go Devils!

He’s not a bad listen and a good guy but a super homer, and that’s fine.

As a Devils fan, think Joe Michaletti is the best. Knows his stuff & is fair. Oftentimes listen to Rosen & him when it's Devs vs Rangers.

Figures you would over the Devils broadcast

Michaelleti was the Islanders color guy before the Rangers.

He’s decent , a former player.

Yes, I know all about the chant. Don't worry I'm not becoming a rags fan 😆. I posted this because I believe in giving credit where it is due, as well as the fact the NHL thread almost fell off the 1st page. If it were up to me, this thread would be open to all teams. It is such a great game to discuss.

I find it funny the NYR scored a power play goal as I was typing my reply last time. Across the sports announcing landscape, most have no originality. They use the same verbiage, at the same time. So why we still have some older original professional's, I want to celebrate them.

Given how Florida acted after Nico lost his balance, I wonder if they will goon it up for Bennett? It should be interesting.

Rangers winning 2-1
I’m not a metrics guy, but I’d love to know the analytics of this game.
The Rangers never have the puck and have like 8 shots with 8 minutes left in 2nd period.
The chasing by the Rangers is out of this world.
Can’t complete a pass

My favorite was John D'Amico as a linesman. Very strong and tough character.
From his Wiki page:
"He was renowned during his career for his immense physical strength"
Lol
He was one of my instructors at
Tam O’Shanter hockey school in Toronto.
He’d pick kids up by the backs of their jerseys and throw us around like rag dolls.
10 years later I saw him again in an elevator at our hotel in Philadelphia, we were playing the Phillies and he was doing a Flyers game at the Spectrum…we had a good laugh!

Fox and Lindgren +5, meaning Fox was on ice for all six Ranger goals and neither of Florida’s.

He is having an amazing year.

Bennett is the type of forward the Devils could use
I certainly would take him. It looks like Timo Meier is the frontrunner for forward help. His agent is PEPE Claude Lemeuiex #22.

I saw something tonight, speculation is Holtz, 1st rounder, and then Yegor Sharangovich. As a starting bid. Timo will cost a lot, but he is strong and scores goals.

Hockey names are hard to spell when you are tired 😆.

The negative I see with the Rangers new line combinations is that Kravstov and Gauthier, who were looking like they were developing, will get only 6-7 minutes on the 4th line.

That is outweighed by the idea that the way these lines are set up, it removes the need to make a stupid “big move” to get someone to play on Panarin’s right.

One other note relating to how kids develop. By deploying them as the third line, Gallant ended up having the kid line play predominantly with the Harpur/Schneider pair, yet it was Fox/Lindgren (who they didn’t play with a lot) who were on the ice for their two goals. It’s something people don’t notice a lot that has a huge effect on a forward’s scoring numbers.

This is why they should be the second line.
But the reality is Gallant is going to use Trochek for draws whenever he can which screws the rotations up anyway.
GG simply doesn’t trust Chytil in the D zone for faceoffs

They never will be the second line with Gallant because the Trochek line has veterans. They were third in his rotation all night.

By the way, Gallant was asked about the line combinations after the game last night and he said he wasn’t “overly happy” with the play all game.

This whole reunite the kid line as the third line thing is likely Gallant setting things up to put Panarin back with Trochek and then playing Goodrow and Vesey as the top 6 right wings, because he thinks they are more defensively responsible and he won’t punish the guys like Panarin and Trochek who are actually committing most of the turnovers.

I agree with your thoughts here.

The problem I see is, Gallant is being selective with accountability. You can not forgive a veteran's mistakes and glue others to the bench; and I'm specifically thinking of Goodrow's slick pass to Jack Hughes.

I like Panarin, but find he tries to force passes too often in dangerous places. If you want to try to force something to the far post for a goal mouth pass, great. If it doesn't work, your 200 feet from you're own net. But, make the same pass across the offensive blueline, and you are now in full retreat if someone jumps the pass.

I dont understand his personnel management.
