No problem with the Trouba hit. Timo needs to keep his head up thru center ice. But glad to see he’s ok. Devs are going to need him if they want to make a run. Schmid is going to grow in confidence - this is really big for his development.
Zap it's been a terrible night as is why would you post this type of crap? Thats been my fear since February
The Rangers are in a tough spot. Some awful contracts and a mediocre farm system. Everyone seemingly has a no movement clause, and Lafrenniere and Miller are due raises. They will be a playoff team again next year barring injury, but they will have to keep chasing the deadline.
I think Zap is right. Not a Ranger fan to say the least. Don't like Gallant one bit. Smug AF when things go good and blames team effort when $h!t goes south.

Now that the series is over I'll give my assessment of game 6.
My opinion is that the adjustment the Rangers made was to interfere with forecheckers away From the puck. Worked for game 6. Devs were ready for game 7.
Officiating left much to be desired. Lots of ticky tack calls and a bunch of WTF non calls. Is what it is. You play the conditions. But, I expect more from NHL playoff officials.

Devils fan here. I’m in Boston for work so forced to watch up here. Thrilled with the win. Dislike the rangers very much but respect the rangers fans in this thread congratulating the devs. It’s a shame this series wasn’t the ECF.
Is it like being at a funeral after last night's big loss by the Bruins?
Between the bruins loss and the Celtics loss tonight I was loving it! Gives a nice path for devils
Amazing how Devils came back in this series ! I thought they were ripe for a sweep after Game 2 as I'm sure everyone else did.
Prudential was electric tonight.....I'd say crowd was about 75/25 Devils fans.
Would have preferred another days rest for Devils before they Start the Hurricanes series on Wed.
I hope the Devils can emotionally; physically and mentally recover quickly for the Canes series !
Scene outside the Rock was lively to say the least after the game especially with all of the Devils fans doing the Rangers Goal song with the help of a DJ !

The most NHL ready prospects the Rangers do have (Othmann and Cuylle) fit the holes created by Kane and Tarasenko being rentals, but they need to hire the right coach who is willing to play young players and they definitely need to stop that cycle of trading their 1st rounder at the deadline every year or they will be in trouble soon.
Complaining about it does not make it a penalty though; which is what I said. Stevens elbows were down and he hit through the body; the hit was clean.
The NHL is not a development league; doubt they ever totally eliminate those hits.
Timo being back on the ice for handshakes was good to see but he looked bloodied from the hit which I was not expecting. Only on watched a couple of complete games and while he did not score there was no questioning TM's effort or presence (unlike Horvat). He may need more time to be ready for the Canes.
Its easy to suggest a coach should be fired but I am not reading anything about who the fan base wants to replace him with. That is the more challenging part of the equation. I would imagine some Bruin fans are calling for Montgomery's head as well.
While the cream should rise to the top over a 7 game series, hockey more than these other sports seems to have such upsets. In the case of the Rangers they lost to a better team despite their headline acquisitions.

Some observations on last night's game. I think the Rangers failure to capitalize on the three 1st period power plays sapped some of their energy. Devils fans I was texting with during the game were all like here we go again with giving up power plays and the fact that they fought them off energized the home team.
Igor is a tremendous talent, Rangers if they make a coaching change should hire a coach who emphasizes defense and plays to his strength. Kane looks old and slow and should not be retained.
All in all a fun series after the first two games and congrats to the Rangers on a good season.

Better team won. Both have skill but the Devils dominate 5v5 (against everybody) and get high compete level from the entire lineup. Palat earned his contract last night and Haula is the Swiss Army knife any team needs.
If the Rangers don't replace Gallant with a coach that will install SOME defensive structure, then Igor should make like the goalie in the movie Slap Shot.

After games 1&2 no one in their right mind thought devs would come back and win it.

Gonna be interesting to see the canes. Theyre a grimey bunch that lack talent but get in front in the dirty areas. Schmid wasnt tested much this series. All shots from the outside mostly
After watching last night's game, anyone care to revisit the officiating? Phantom first penalty call against the Devils. Blatant takedown cross checks in the back and high sticks not called on the Rags. It was a lopsidedly, officiated game. Wes McCauley has garnered a fair share of criticism for his officiating. Despite that, the Devils rose to the occasion and put the Rags out to pasture. Great game boys!!!!
Agreed...today players need to have a chance to defend themselves in contact sports like hockey and football. But it can still be a judgment call unless the refs can be certain 1) the player delivering the hit intended to blast a defenseless player and 2) the player getting hit could have avoided the contact.
The Stevens ko of Lindros wasn't a cheap shot just unfortunate, in that Lindros was losing control of the puck as Stevens was closing in on him. Stevens didn't throw an elbow, it was just a body slam that caught Lindros in the jaw at full speed because he was looking down trying to regain control of the puck.
I'm a Devils fan but it is the best goal song in all of hockey.
The old "Brass Bonanza" for the Whalers was good, Rangers "Slapshot" is #1 IMO.

I thought the whining about game 6 was just sour grapes. However last night I have to agree there were a couple of blatant misses that benefited the Rangers. We can argue about the Trouba hit. But at one point there was a pretty clear elbow to the face, and a couple of others. It would be one thing if they were letting it go on both sides, but clearly they weren't. I still don't think there is any grand conspiracy here, but something seemed off last night. They did give the Devils that holding call to negate the first Rangers power play however, which I wasn't expecting. Good call, but would have been easy to ignore also.
Is it something in the water that makes some Ranger fans d-bags? Last year, a Lightning fan gets sucker punched and KO'd. This year, a grown man wearing a Ranger jersey, tags a young Devils employee doing his job. I hope this absolute a-hole of a dyck gets his due. What a sore loser. I can use enough explicatives towards this ***. I hope social media helps bet his *** arrested and charged for assault. The video is out there Mr. D*ckhead. Let's get him. There's an even more incriminating video out there..I'll post it if I can find it.
Every team has some fans that are crappy people. Let's not generalize it to everyone.

Lets be honest and not act like this employee was some innocent kid. He was antagonizing rangers fans waving in their faces. He learned a lesson.
