New house with wires running all over the place and I can't track all of them. Need to get my AV system set up and some other wiring done and all this stuff is always over my head.

Hook up JUST WHAT YOU NEED TO SEE THE GAME

If you have HDMI, hook that into your AV Receiver then then to TV...voila, you're done.

Also, I'd just hook up your front spkrs for now.

Wait for a slow Sat in basketball season to work your way through the wire mess. I certainly wouldn't pay anyone to do what I could do if I had the time.

One story or two story home? Carpet to hide wires, or are the in ceiling and will wires be run through the walls/attic?

Edited to add: If you're talking about figuring out which speaker wires go where on the back of the receiver you can take a double a battery and touch each end of the wire to the battery and listen for a speaker to crackle.

I just have time constraints so might have to bit the bullet and hire a prof.

Never heard of the AA battery idea though so that might be good to try

I am far from a handyman and I was able to run the speaker wires up my wall and across my attic and install 4 in ceiling speakers. Hiring a professional probably isn't necessary. I assume you're wanting to do in ceiling?

I think all the wiring is in place, I just need to trace it and might try the AA battery suggestion and see if that helps me sort it out
