OT: B1G in NCAA Baseball Regionals and Final Golf

Maryland is 1-1 after losing 21-6 to #1 Wake Forest. They face George Mason in the elimination game. Winner plays Wake immediately afterwards. If they win both they play Wake again in the Regional Final.

Iowa is also 1-1 after beating UNC and losing to #14 Indiana State. They face UNC again in the elimination game. Winner plays Ind St afterwards. If they win it sets up the same situation as Maryland.

Indiana is 2-0 after beating WVU and #5 Kentucky. They await the winner of the two they've already beaten. They now need to only win 1 of 2.

In Golf, Illinois and Ohio State made the Team Stroke Play Final. Ohio State finished 15th and was eliminated from the 8 team Match Play. Illinois led going into the Final Round but finished 3rd with UNC the champion.In the individual Championship Illini had 3 players finish in the Top 10 with a T2 and two tied in 7th.

In Match Play the Illini were eliminated in the 1st Round, losing to FSU 3-2. Florida won the Championship.

They were eliminated by Duke, 13-5. Nice season tho.

When you look at Rider stats wise, nothing really jumps out. Not a great hitting team, not great power, and not great starters.

What they did have is good fielding and a couple RP's that Rutgers could have really used this year.

Maryland loses 11-19 to George Mason and is eliminated,

Iowa eliminated UNC 6-5. They now have to beat Indiana State twice to move on to the Super Regional.

Kentucky beat WVU 10-0. Iowa now has to win 1 of 2 vs Kentucky to move on to the Super Regional.

Maryland had a great season, winning both titles. But they ran out of gas after weekend starter number three fell by the wayside. He (Kyle McCoy of Hunterdon Central) pitched two thirds of an inning in the B1G tournament and then disappeared. They faked their way through that one and won it, but couldn’t get through regionals with just two starters.

Wake Forest has an amazing pitcher (14-0) who nobody can hit. They saved him for the Terps. Not sure why MD had to go the regional hosted by overall number one team, but who said life is fair? (And they beat overall number 1 in 2015, I was hoping for a repeat)

Good luck to Iowa and Indiana…
