I am thinking about going to see The Hobbit tomorrow. Is it worth the extra effort to go to the HFR 3D show? Or is 3D okay and better than just regular. I am probably going to see it during the game and watch the game when I get back home.

I saw the HFR 3D version on opening weekend because it happened to be the only one that wasn't sold out when we went. Personally, those 3D glasses annoy the piss out of me after about 30 min, and I found myself wishing that I could have just taken them off. There were a couple cool scenes, but nothing was amazing enough to where I can even remember enough about it to tell you.

If I could do it over again, I'd just go to the regular version. In fact, I don't see myself ever going to another 3D movie again.

Skip it and go see Les Miserables instead with your wife or lady friend.

I recommend a 5 minute wikipedia read beforehand if you're not familiar with the story.

The Hobbit is too drawn out for the story. Jackson could have done two movies at 2 hours each.

It really depends on your preference. If you like movies in 3d, then you will likely enjoy watching this one in 3d. The HFR 3d is twice the framerate as a normal movie. Some people wouldn't notice a difference while others will recognize smoother movement when there is a lot of action going on. I did not see the HFR 3D version, but I would be a little cautious that it may cause that "Soap-Opera" effect because i hate that.

Wearing the 3D glasses kinda sucks, but...

the difference in the watchability of the movie is definitely noticeable. It's not 3D like you're used to with IMAX with stuff coming at you, it's more like you're actually seeing it from just outside of the lens of the camera, actually there instead of watching a movie. It was my first 3D movie and I was really impressed. Definitely would pick one of the 3D options over regular despite the glasses.

Saw the play on Broadway and will wait for it to come out on dvd. Want to see The Hobbit on the big screen. I love LOTR and am a Tolkien fan so it is a no brainer

Not a big Tarantino guy. Little too much with the graphic violence. The n word usage is not a big deal. It was used it a bunch of times in Blazing Saddles which was co written by Richard Pryor. I come from a time when the artists and comedians used words like that to belittle the word. To make it lose it's sting or shock value. I still think it is a mistake to put such rigid values on a word like that or retard or even gay but that is a discussion for another day.

Difference between Django and Blazing Saddles is that BS was using it as satire. In Django it's used as shock value.

It's historical fiction set in a time when they were treated like livestock. It's not about shock value or making any sort of pro-white statement or anything else as equally ridiculous. If anything, with the exception of one amazing German gentleman (Christoph Waltz is even better than he was in Inglorious Basterds), most of the white people in this movie are ignorant ******* rednecks. But, truth be told, there were a lot of ignorant ******* rednecks in that time. I loved Django Unchained. It's definitely in my top three with Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds.

A friend of mine saw it in 3D today...

Said afterward he wished he had not, simply because the glasses got old and gave him a headache. Given that it's that long of a movie, I'd probably pass on the 3D.

I always pass on 3D when possible

Can't wait for this fad to end. That being said, if I'm going to be forced to see 3D, I'll take HFR 3D.
