Are there any apps out there to help with battery life for the iPhone 4S? I have tried all the "tips" to help lengthen the battery life, but I have noticed an improvement.</p>

He said that they have replaced hundreds of the new iphones due to battery problems. Said that if you had a problem, just bring it by and they will give you a new one.

The battery life on mine has been great. I talk on it all throughout the day, surf the web, email, and I have everything on it turned on that is supposed to drain the battery. When I went to bed last night it was just below 50% power.

Unless you are on the phone all day doing something, I would bet you have a bad one and need to get it replaced.

I just went from the 3GS to a 4S in the past two weeks. I have actually been very impressed with the battery life on the 4S compared to my 3GS.

Obviously, make sure your Wi-fi/blue toothis off, no need to run it all the time is there? My wife runs her blue tooth all the time so that when she gets in her car - it's ready to go......

Good tip I picked up from the Apple store about your aps running the background.......hit your "home" button twice and all aps running the "background" will appear across the bottom of your screen, keep one of them "pushed" fora few seconds and it will allow you to kill those aps and totally close them......cool tip, hope it helps.

Before the update, my phone would be down to like 60% by lunch with normal use. It seemed to lose 5-8% per hour just being asleep. Now, I am showing 97% at 12:12 and I unplugged my phone around 8:30 this morning. On Saturday, which was also after the update, I took my phone to Starkville and used it to play music on a sound dock at the tailgate for a couple hours and still had about 30% left when I got home from Starkville at about 1am. <div>
</div><div>I keep WIFI on, but generally keep bluetooth off unless I need it. </div><div>Under Location Services>System Services - I turn off Diagnostics & Usage, Location based iAds and Setting Time Zone (I don't travel that much, so not much need for this, but I switch it on if I am changing time zones).</div><div>My brightness is set at about 30%</div><div>For Notifications, I only use the ones that I really care about - like Twitter/Email/Texts, etc. </div><div>
</div><div>That said, it was a definite problem before the update. These days, by the time I get home from work I am usually around 60%, which is ok, but I am going to continue to monitor it and talk to other users. If my battery is not performing as well as others I am going to take it in. The best thing you can do is compare yours to others, talk about what kind of usage they have and if you are significantly behind you should probably take it in. </div>

reduce the brightness to about 50-60%

turn off push (General > Fetch new Data) or at least set it to manual

turn off wifi if you aren't using it for an extended amount of time

turn off bluetooth (unless you have a headset)

turn off location services or adjust them per app

my boss and a couple coworkers who have the 4 said turning off the location-based notifications increased their battery life pretty significantly... just throwing that out there...

but that's the frequently used apps list. Those apps are in a "sleeping" state so all you are doing is removing them from that list. The guy at the Apple Store was either punking you or he started yesterday. Here is a better explanation:

Anyway, the basic point is: Don’t worry, not all of these apps are “running.” In fact, most of them are not.
Those 42 apps are the last 42 apps you used, they’re not churning in
the background, sucking up your battery life. Think of them sort of
like Han Solo encased in carbonite; they’re in suspended animation, so
they spring back to life right where you left them when tapped. So,
that app list is there for your convenience, not to stress you out, so
don’t worry, be happy! You’re running iOS4 on an iPhone 3GS or iPhone
4, you lucky son-a-ma-batches! Your iPhone is taking care of
multitasking, so you don’t have to.

but it has the same operating system as the 4GS phone. iOS5.0.1

So anybody with a older 3GS can update their software if they chose to do so.
It probably does about 85% of what the 4GS phone will do.
No Siri, is the big thing... plus someother things.
But for free? Heck of a deal.

Word on the street is that they pushed the 5.0.1 update out quickly to address the most egregious problems with the battery life on the 4S, but that they have been working on a 5.0.2 update that will correct all of the smaller battery drains. I haven't seen the beta show up on the developer center yet, but the last one was only in beta for a week or so. An update could be out in the next week or so (also including some Siri improvements). That's what I'm hearing.

I was under the impression that the IOS 5 system was a lot for the older 3 series phones to handle. I still have the 3gs also. <div>
</div><div>Oh and if anyone is a fan of unlocking their phone, there is no untethered hack for the iOS 5 yet. If I stay on the At&t network. I'm unlocking the phone and running that walmart unlimited plan for 45 bucks a month. Same everything as At&t including the 3g at half the cost of At&t. That is why I didn't upgrade to the 4S. I'll wait on the 4s hack and pick one up off EBay and run the cheap plan. </div>
