Mets pitchers allowed 1 run a game over last 6. As we get healthy mets will head to playoffs for 3rd yr in a row. Mets have great pitching but injuries have caused a few bumps.

Maybe the mets just hit some teams that were struggling offensively at the time. Every team has hot and cold streaks. Mets team ERA is 12th of 15 teams in the National League thus far this season...after 60 games. Why you would talk of the playoffs for the Amazins is kinda hard to figure.
And I know their fans are just anticipating the next starter to go on the DL. I'm guessing Degrom.
Besides, everybody knows the Yankees own this town.

Lot of teams for the Mets to climb over. I think they are further from a WC than the division. The NL West is crazy good at the top this year. And if you are being honest, the Mets pitchers aren't much more proven than Judge. Unless you are counting on Harvey to be good again.

Cesp bruce and conforto more proven than judge. Mets pitching will be fine, degrom complete game, wheeler good all yr, matz throws a gem, lugo a gem, harvey gaining arm strength as expected, thor will be rested. The biggest ques is familia, does he come back this yr? Mets have bats and rosarrio will be here soon. Yes they have a few teams to climb over but Mets are talented. 100 games to go.......

Ah yes, thank you for reminding everyone why yankees fans are so annoying. He is having a good rookie season. Cant you just leave it at that?

Yeah. No thank God no teams have fans that say crazy or
Dumb stuff. We can bet from your post your favorite team has at least one annoying fan.

Some random thoughts:

Judge has 50 lbs on Dave Winfield. He's a very large human.

Obviously, the Ruth comparison is click-bait. When I look at him, I can't help but think he's the love child of Jose Canseco & Mark McGwire.

I endured the Ordonez - Jeter nonsense as well. It wasn't in jest.

I just hope Judge is clean and keeps it up because there's no doubt it's exciting every time he steps to the plate.

The Ruthian pace continues...30 home runs before all star break. New Yankee rookie HR record with half a season to go. Too bad the bullpen imploded and key pieces in the middle of the order are on the bench...

Bullpen has been a horror show for almost a month now. They started off so well that the collapse is head scratching.

Judge is half a season away from striking out every other AB. Let's not make that Cooperstown plaque just yet. The thing is he's so strong when he makes contact the ball goes a long, long way.

I heard a stat that at one point across MLB there had been 47 times where exit velocity off the bat has been faster than 115mph. Of those 47 times, Judge had 17 of them.

Judge's HRs are not what impresses me most. It's that his OBP is .448. Simply incredible for a right-handed hitter in this day and age. I could not care less if every one of his outs is a K if he keeps up his current pace.

Don't want to anticipate too much and be disappointed but Judge should put on quite a show in the HR Derby (Monday?)

Happy for Yankees but keep in mind he needs to stay healthy and that's # 1 ... Judge must continue to adjust to the changes which teams will make going forward...the Yankees must have someone else in the lineup to protect against pitching around him...a true physical specimen who must also be able to withstand a major slump...at some point that will happen.

One note of caution:In 1985,Bob Gibson observed Dwight Gooden, then stated:"Dwight Gooden will never again be as good as he is right now."

Judge has a weakness for pitches up in the zone.If the pitchers can consistently place the ball there,he won't be as dominant as he is now.

Judge is a very serious student of hitting. You have to think that he will work on his weaknesses.

You have to love the Yankees' future with players like Judge, Sanchez, Frazier and Gregorius.

I've seen enough of his hand eye, balance, bat speed and pitch selection to ease any flash in teh pan concerns. He's so long that he can stand off the plate and take away the inside pitch while still being long and quick enough to handle the outside stuff. Scary as it may seem, I think he only gets better. In terms of injuries....he's young. Chances of the freak injury, yes but 90% odds he's in the middle of that line up for 10 years.

As someone else said, he just smokes the ball...line drives go out of the park, fly balls go out of the park...WHat if he hits 65 HR's his rookie year? It's possible.

The rookie home run record is 49, by McGwire for the A's. It's stood for 30 years. Vegas is giving 5-2 odds on Judge hitting 50. Rookies are notorious for second half slumps, but somehow Judge seems different. It will be fun to watch, that's for sure

Looking forward to the Home Run Derby - but with a bit of apprehension - - a number if players have had the Derby take the wind out of their sails for weeks afterward.

Has to have a high potential to mess with some players heads - every pitch grooved to them - just have to wallop it & the temptation must be to tee-off on every one - at then end ... I'd much rather see Judge emerge with his mechanics intact than some trophy - but if he can do both great!

Isn't every pitch grooved in normal BP everyday? Although they may not try to hit an HR on every swing.

"Grooved" ? well considering that the intent is it try to work on the hitter' skill - there is some effort to put a bit of a challenge into the process - to mix in kinds of pitches where the hitter "needs improvement"
- that is why they call it "Batting Practice" ... and not "Home Run Practice"

Judge is a freakish athlete that is playing at a high level, in a ballpark that allows right center field power....you can't pitch him away and expect to get him out and he's showing plate discipline.

I'm as far from a Yankee fan as anyone, but he's more than what the Yankees had in Jeter or the "Core 4"....he is right now an icon in a dying sport for media coverage, in the right media market. Giancarlo Stanton has been doing this for 4-5 years now in South Florida and is the standard of what to expect for Judge, but is just now getting his due with the general public..... If Stanton's first 4-5 years were in Yankee Stadium, this conversation would be drastically different....Stanton would already have a statue outside Yankee Stadium.....Let's get Judge through a couple of seasons before crowning him, he's not Stanton.....yet.....

Hawk, Stanton is an amazing player, no doubt, but Trout may be the best player in baseball. Compare their stats, Trout hits almost the same HRs, almost same RBIs , more runs scored, better average than Stanton in an average year.

Where did he say Stanton is the best player in baseball? All he said was that he's the best comp for Judge, which is true.
I have to say, this thread is really funny.

Hawk didn't say it, I didn't say he did, but I'm saying Trout probably is. The combination of power, average, speed, defense.

Stanton has never hit 40 HRs in a season once, and only knocked in 100 RBIs once. . Trout has hit 40 HRs and knocked in 100 RBIs twice. Scores more runs too.

Seems really impressive so far. Quite a job by Yankee management to building a very good and young team so quickly. I'm not a Yankee fan, but you have to give credit where due. Could be a dangerous team for a long time with some of the younger guys they have assembled.
They have a good young core whonhas the potential to be great. If they can find some young pitchers to match, this may be a great one for at least 5 years. Not a fan but hope they spend their FA money wisely (esp for pitchers) instead of signing one player to a $400 Million contract simply because theyre the Yankees.

A lot of people saying, "put on the breaks!" regarding what this half season means. How about a game of "I told you so!" predict Judge's final HR/RBI/AVG season totals.
