Judge is a freakish athlete that is playing at a high level, in a ballpark that allows right center field power....you can't pitch him away and expect to get him out and he's showing plate discipline.
I'm as far from a Yankee fan as anyone, but he's more than what the Yankees had in Jeter or the "Core 4"....he is right now an icon in a dying sport for media coverage, in the right media market. Giancarlo Stanton has been doing this for 4-5 years now in South Florida and is the standard of what to expect for Judge, but is just now getting his due with the general public..... If Stanton's first 4-5 years were in Yankee Stadium, this conversation would be drastically different....Stanton would already have a statue outside Yankee Stadium.....Let's get Judge through a couple of seasons before crowning him, he's not Stanton.....yet.....
I wish you hadn't included your editorial about MLB dying. I don't agree and guess I take it personally...the same as if you had attacked Rutgers.
Last year MLB had the 11th highest attendance (73.16M). Yes it was down about 1.1% from the year before but by most standards (see the Cubs / Chicago) MLB is here to stay. Is it still No. 1...no and it hasn't been since around the late 60's.
But it's MILES ahead of the NBA, NHL or any X game you can mention.
Other than that, when you survey the landscape of talent: Judge, Sanchez, Story, Seager, Harper, Trout, Sale, Chapman, the Reds #1 pick (throws 102 mph), the Japanese Wunderkind who's in the wings (see next season) / Springer, Zimmerman and countless other talents, it seems to me that MLB maybe on the verge of a Renaissance.
I hope my Cardinals are in the thick of it when it occurs.

PS I read your posts and usually agree with you...but this one just rubbed me the wrong way. Going to watch the HR derby soon!
JUDGE for yourself!
