OT: Last reunion of any kind you attended

Depressing? Seeing people you spent 4 years with, who thought it important enough to travel as far away as Cali, FL, SC, Georgia is depressing? I never went till my 45th and of course this 50th. To be honest, there was a time I felt the way you do now, but as word spread each year on who passed and knowing this might be our last chance to sit, talk, eat and drink together, I looked forward to it. The fact you'd go to a college reunion but not a HS reunion I think says a lot about the HS experience you had.

Ya. The who passed sentiment is big clue #1. Seeing people I knew only in their teens aged ahead by years and decades - just another reminder of how short the show is. Knew them then, and if I don't now, not really worried about it.

My HS experience was all good. I'd relive it if I could. But I can't, so won't try.

I only had 103 in my Hasbrouck Heights 1983 graduating class. Went to my 30th reunion in 2013 and about 30 people showed up. It was pretty lame to be honest. Not sure if there will be a 40th this year, but I probably won't be there, and I definitely wouldn't drag my wife to that borefest again. Some of the later classes have been combining classes, which I might be interested in, since my sisters and brothers-in-laws and other friends would be included.

My fraternity Sigma Pi was doing a golf fundraiser for a few years before the house was torn down. That was a de facto reunion and much more fun.

I attended my 10-year HS reunion back in 2008 and had a good time; we had about 84 out of a class of 315. My 20-year reunion was held at a steakhouse but I coach football and had practice that day. This year would be our 25th year since graduation though I don't think anything is planned.

My olde brother said to me a few years back that he came across a quote that rings more true every day: 'People have 2 lives- the one they're born with and the one they start living when they realize they only have one.' If they do hold some sort of event I would definitely try to go; I've lost too many good people in my life to not try and appreciate the opportunities we have while we're here.
