You always struck me as someone who had a decent working knowledge of science and logic and I recall awhile back that you seemed to think the vaccines were safe and effective. Maybe I'm misremembering, but if not, it's disappointing to see you having fallen victim to the antivaxx and ivermectin misinformation machines. The COVID vaccines will be remembered by the vast majority of medical researchers and doctors as one of the biggest, most important breakthrough in the history of medicine, given how safe and effective they've been (especially in protecting against severe COVID/death) and how amazingly quickly they were developed and tested (and yes, the Trump Administration deserves kudos for Warp Speed), saving 2MM+ lives in the US and tens of millions worldwide. One can debate the effectiveness of mandates, but not the effectiveness of the vaccines. If we didn't have these vaccines in place, especially when the incredibly infectious omicron variants hit, our country and much of the world would've been broken, as the impact would've been far worse than what we saw with the original strain.

And the ivermectin case, in particular, kind of destroys your "big Pharma bad" logic here. Specifically, it absolutely has no efficacy for COVID, as I and a couple of MDs in the linked thread have shown (and much of this was well known 2 years ago). Secondly, Merck stood to gain substantially, financially, if iermectin worked for COVID, but Merck came out with crystal clear statements summarizing how ivermectin was ineffective for COVID (and could be dangerous when the animal formulations were used by humans, as has occurred). Also, it's not like Merck had COVID vaccines that it didn't want ivermectin competing with. As I've said many times, having worked on ivermectin in the late 80s/early 90s, I would have been thrilled if it worked for COVID. It doesn't. Also, anyone who says that there was a bias against repurposing existing medications (like HCQ and ivermectin) hasn't been paying attention, since dexamethasone an old steroid was approved for use in patients suffering from COVID-induced inflammation, as it worked very well for that. And is pretty cheap.

And isn't it amazing how people whining about side effects from a vaccine seem to think a drug like ivermectin--or any of the other drugs you might get during a hospital stay with covid--wouldn't have any side effects? Or that getting a bad infection wouldn't have lingering health problems, which it sometimes does? Cognitive dissonance. They wedded themselves to the anti-vaxxer idea and so have to perform all kinds of logical pretzel twisting for it to make sense.
