To me, Haydel makes the best cheap call. Any of the double reeds. Find the one you like. Tone and such is so subjective.<div>As for expensive calls ($100+), all the new acrylic calls are virtually the same. The majority of them are produced under the same roof with the exact same materials. You are really only paying for the name.</div><div>I use to think that you HAD to have a single reed call in your arsenal for open situations. Thousands of ducks later, I've come to the conclusion that they can hear a double reed just fine and will only commit if they want to. Volume isn't the key factor.</div><div>It's not how far you can call them from, its how close you can get them. Over the years, I've whittled my lanyards down to 3 calls. A haydel, a Zink, and a Primos whistle from wallyworld.</div><div>
