(See below for correction)

Let's just assume we can't catch Florida.

Alabama makes the playoffs. Florida gets to the Sugar Bowl.

So next up, the SEC had six bowl games that they collaborate with so everyone is happy.

Outback (Tampa)
Citrus (Orlando)
Texas (Houston)
Belk (Charlotte)
Gator (Jacksonville)
Music City (Nashville)

Are we one of the six teams to make it? Three are definitely in.

Texas am
Lsu
Auburn

Then there's the next tier.
Georgia
Tennessee
Kentucky
Arkansas
South Carolina

Hard to say with four more games left. But I think we have to win one more SEC game (plus Austin Peay) to be one of the three from that group that gets in. If not, it's the Liberty Bowl.

Unless something changed this year, the hierarchy is this:

Playoff

Sugar/other NYD bowl

Citrus/Outback, in no particular order.

Belk/TaxSlayer/Liberty/MusicCity/Texas in no particular order.

I was wrong and you're almost right . The Citrus Bowl does get first choice.

Then it's six bowls. Outback, Gator, Texas, Belk, Music City and Liberty.

With that, then I think we do get the hang of six. I'm kind of tired of ACC teams and hope for Music City our Texas bowls.

I would think the Texas Bowl will go to a West team. Unless we win against Tennessee, the Gator Bowl (taxslayer) is probably our best hope- but that would be awesome if we get it.

The Peach Bowl (Chic-Fil-A) is out this year for the SEC as it hosts one of the CFP semifinals ( along with the Fiesta Bowl).

If we can beat Georgia on Saturday, I can see us getting a better bowl than the Liberty. The way UK fans travel, you would think we would be a team that a lot of bowls would love to get, especially if we get 7 or even 8 wins.

The SEC likely will get at least 3 teams into the New Year's Six bowls. That moves everyone up a notch.

Agree with getting 3 teams into New Years 6. Bama, A&M and Florida all have a great shot at those right now.

The Orange Bowl has an option of taking a SEC team after the Sugar Bowl picks. If they take one, it would bump the remaining teams up a step.

Orange bowl would take Gators and Sugar would take A&M. LSU would go to maybe Cotton bowl along with Ole Miss or Ark.

This:

To me, barring an upset by Georgia over Auburn, UK is already certain to finish no worse than 3rd in the East, and about 7th overall in the SEC, with Miss State and Ole Miss already having 4 losses and Ark has three, but still has to play LSU and Florida. With the SEC for sure getting a playoff spot plus another spot in the group of six big bowls, don't see any way we fall all the way to Birmingham or Shreveport. Belk or Tax Slayer is what I am thinking

Of course, with a win over either UT or UGA, the whole discussion changes.

Need to look at how teams are trending as far as fans go. Teams that were lrojected to have great seasons (Tennessee and ole miss) that struggle and finish tend to have less excitement (and less tickets sold) then those who haven't been bowling in a while or was above expectations. If a bowl has a choice between U.K. And ole miss we will get it most time. (Unless Texas and I hope that isn't the destination).

Music city will be trying their best to get us as it gaurentees a sellout. (Could see an Indiana Kentucky matchup there if possible). The Florida bowls wouldn't mind cats coming either. Houston would try to lend for an west team o would think when lobbing with conference.

Honest question, does it matter?

5 weeks ago this team was laughed at mocked, and left for dead. We have watched a bunch of young guys grow as the season has progressed. Yes, it's a fact we haven't beaten anyone with a winning record. However, UK teams past would have lost a couple of the close ones this team pulled out.
I'd love to beat UGA and UT, and UofL, but I won't be flipping out if we don't. A bowl game is on the horizon and that is progress.

No...The Cotton Bowl takes the highest ranked team not in either the CFP or Contract Bowl-(Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl or Sugar Bowl).

Assuming it is these 4 in the CFP:
Alabama
Clemson
Michigan
Washington

Orange Bowl Louisville vs. Wisconsin-(likely ranked higher than any available SEC School)
Sugar Bowl Texas A&M vs Big XII Champ IMO Oklahoma
Rose Bowl Utah vs. Ohio State
Cotton Bowl San Dirgo State/Western Michigan-(highest Ranked G5 School) vs. Nebraska, Baylor, WVU or SEC School

Lot of football to play...a team like LSU could end up in the playoffs or fall like a rock.

They are playing well with Alabama and Florida at home, on the road to Arkansas and A&M.

Think Ole Miss has 5 losses, they're running the risk of getting left out.

Correct, they are 3-5 with four to play. One is Tx A&M but they should be favored against the other three.

True but one of their remaining games is Miss St and as you know rivalry games can get screwy. Lose that one and A&M and they're left out.

This. Money talks. UK will have the inside track on MCB for sure. Will help with a few others too

As long as we are bowling I am happy but would prefer not to have to travel to Birmingham or Shreveport. Beat UGA and AP and I think Music City is where we will end up.

You wish TPE : ). Mark it down...we will end up with a better bowl than the Independence or Liberty

Actually doesn't bother me at all...I also suspect you will get a good Bowl. Belk Bowl or Music City Bowl-(and the MCB is a higher level Bowl now...LSU vs. Notre Dame in 2014 as example) would be good spots.

Lot of ball to be played. KY is in a good spot because the sec has good bowls and this year 4-5 sec teams won't qualify. If U.K. Could beat upset Georgia they will move up a level.
