The Great Rivalry resumes. Grimsley and Page JVs, both undefeated, faced off tonight before the on campus traditional bonfire.

Whirlies shout ‘em out, 34-0. Going to be a long climb for Page. 3-5 Pirates host unblemished Whirlie squad. Whirlies by a lot.

That JV game last night was 8-0 Grimsley at halftime. Page stopped Grimsley on a goal line stand with less than 10 seconds left of the 2nd quarter. You could tell Page's defense was pretty gassed because the offense wasn't able to sustain drives in the 1st half. Page also had a few kids going both ways on the DL/OL. Grimsley JV, at this point, has more depth, and from what I could tell doesn't have lineman going both ways. Because of this, Grimsley was able to pull away in the 2nd half. I've never seen Grimsley having so many kids on their JV team before. Grimsley's district has never been known as being a hotbed for football talent.

This won't be much of a game this year. Maybe (but doubtful) Page can keep it close for a quarter or two?? I look for Page to really get things going in the next couple of years. These young players are buying in. By the time the freshman QB is a Jr, I have a feeling we will be competing for conference championships and making deep playoff runs.

Looks like the freshman QB Williamson is still out injured from when he went out of the game against Northern Guilford in the 4th Quarter last week.

I know Grimsley is on Cloud 9 right now beating an arch rival like never before years in a row does feel quite special, especially for the kids.

It will get better if the players buy in and the coaching staff can stay in place. The question is will that happen? It is also makes it tough when there are likely some kids on the Grimsley team that should not be on the team and should be on other HS teams in Guilford Co. and do not live in the Grimsley district.

Josh Heupel of Tennessee was on the Grimsley sideline last night. The quality of the program is the great ‘recruiter’ of which you seek.

Oh please... Grimsley had numerous (can count them on 3 hands) kids transfer in, in the summer going into 2019 season before all this winning started happening. The quality of the program wasn't there yet.... Grimsley went 4-7, 4-7, 7-6 before that in Browns first 3 years.

Word on the street is the great 'recruiter' was hired around that same time frame and was forced to retire this summer. But now that the program is where it is, it recruits for itself, yes. But, let's not forget how we got here....

Page has had guys like Dabo Sweeney on the sideline at times not too long ago. The quality of the program thing, you guys learned that from us. Lets be real.

From what I heard, Guilford Co AD went out for lunch this summer during the investigation. So basically things were swept under the rug and a slap on the wrist was awarded to Grimsley. It's a shame that Coach Nance had to officially end his coaching career the way it did, but he was caught in the crossfire. It's crazy, because Grimsley hired Fancourt as their new AD, and he left Page's basketball coaching position because of suspicious circumstances, so I'm sure nothing will change at Grimsley.

There is more info, but it's probably best not to air it out on here. Like I said, probably was swept under the rug when your AD retired. There was maybe some "negotiation" involved that had all wrong doing pardoned, if he stepped down and took his assistant with him. I presume part of the "negotiation" was that no media outlets were to report on him retiring as well. Why else would one of the darlings of Greensboro HS Football, a long time NFL pro, and AD retiring abruptly not make the newspapers and TV news outlets? Something just seems very off about that whole situation.

There are so many reasons that students can transfer to Grimsley or to other schools in Guilford County.

This is liable speculation. Unless you have any proof? Take your licks and pray for any consistency Page can manage!

Page used dirty recruiting tactics for years unabated in the 80s and 90s. So ease up 44.

I dont have any actual proof, just sources and puzzling pieces together. For example, Coach Nance was asked this summer how things were going at Grimsley, and he said he no longer has a job at Grimsley. Also none of the newspapers and local news stations reported the retirement. What i said in that post is opinion based speculation.

Show proof....
Yes, when we moved to Greensboro in 1986, they wanted my older brother, 6"3" 290 pounds, to go to Page. They pushed so hard that my parents decided to get a new agent and move into the Grimsley district out of disgust. We were both on the team that beat Page 10 to 7 in the playoffs in 1987. There are probably a dozen ways to do it legally including moving, these days. What evidence do you have of Grimsley bringing in players against county rules other than hurt feelings?

Hurt feelings? I've been all over these boards over the past 4 years giving Grimsley their flowers when they beat us head to head. Like I said, I'm not going to air it out on here. If you wanted to ask around for what they found during the investigation, then you can find out for yourself. I'm not going to be the messenger. Just know that there were some things against county rules, and (I think) your AD stepping down gave you a clean slate.

Didn't Page forfeit a championship due to ineligible players around 2010? Do you have anything to come back off that? Ethan has kids in college playing football, so I think he wanted to go see some games. He didn't need the money!

The only " flowers " you've dispersed to Grimsley are dead ones from lack of water.

No, Page has never forfeited a championship... That was Northern Guilford Basketball.

We've all heard the "reasons for retirement" about wanting to watch his kids play ball, well the games are on Saturdays, he could go watch them..... also about his foot needing surgery, well he had all summer to get surgery... those just seem like cover up excuses, in my opinion.

Northern Guilford's Football team was investigated too around the same timeframe. Hence the nickname Northern Guilford Cheetahs

Maybe they were investigated, but the investigators came up with nothing on the football investigation. Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch.
P.S. This is a Grimsley and Page thread, Sir, so your attempt to stay on topic would be greatly appreciated.

I'm really done talking about it. I just think its funny when Grimsley fans act oblivious about it and act like droves of kids showing up was just naturally occurring from "quality of program" -- its so laughable.

You have been talking about it for five years, and is a preface to every Grimsley post you make. You can’t let it go, Elsa
