Players you would never see on a Rick Ray coached team

Marcus Bullard
Dontae Jones

Jamont Gordon
Lawrence Roberts

The first 4 wouldn't fit into the "Ray Culture" and there isn't any proof that Ray could get someone of Roberts caliber to transfer to our program.

So there goes an SEC Championship a Final Four and about 1/2 of our NCAA appearances.

Notwithstanding the fact this this post is the most assinine line of

assumptions I may have ever read, who exactly should be coaching the MSU basketball team right now? Seriously, who should be the coach?

I've said it a billion times, I'll say it again. MSU has to take chances on players with some baggage if they want to be something above mediocre.

There also isn't any proof that Ray COULDN'T get someone of Roberts' caliber to transfer to our program. Show me the next All-American to transfer out of a school and then you can use that as proof. He hasn't had this opportunity yet.

You're a sick, sad dick17. Get the 17 over Stansbury. He's gone. Ray is our coach for at least 3 years and if he doesn't get the job done, we'll get someone else.

Go 17 a rusty nail and leave the subject. Try not to enter 2013 the same tool you are today.

Best post on this topic. Too many posters here think that MSU can win with X's and O's and playing hard. If it was that easy, everybody would be doing it.

Amazing how little some of these people know about basketball in general and college basketball

If they paid attention to what folks like you and Faust have to say and put the attention whores on mute, they might learn something.

No one says we can win without good players

you are a complete ruhtard. It was time for Stansbury to go. I thank him for all the good things he did for us over the years, but it was over.

We don't care if you want to play with his balls on his lake. To each his own.

Payne, but if there is a plus to our future outlook of mediocrity on the Auburn/Georgia scale maybe we'll devote funds to baseball as the rightful second sport on campus and really do major renovations to DNF and become the standard bearer of college baseball stadiums; in conjunction with becoming a perennial Omaha threat as well. I'd take baseball success over hoops no questions asked.

Any future walk-ons. Those aren't important and have no value on a team though.

You are one that needs to post less about basketball. The only thing I've seen out of you in this discussion is an attempt at humor more suited for a middle school sleep over in your parents' basement.

Stansbury is history. I'm not sure why you keep bringing him up other than you can't find anything good to say about Ricky Ray.

If you are not making sleights at the current coach out of loyalty to the former coach, then what exactly is your argument? That we don't currently this season have enough talent to win? Wow, congratulations! You win the Sherlock Holmes award of excellence for your sleuthing skills!

This entire thread is about how good Stansbury recruited and how we will never win again because we won't get those type of players anymore (even though that's simply an uneducated assumption being made by certain posters). You think that you are slick by not bringing him up. As if somehow that cloaks your unwillingness to support the basketball program in the post-Stansbury era in secrecy. You don't have a very good argument for your hypothesis, so you resort to things on the fringe of the argument. It's akin to a diversion. Hey look over here!!! Pay no attention to the real issue over there!! Make up an argument that is completely false, and then when you get called on it, ignore that part and attack elsewhere. Come to think of it you and Peaches must've been educated in the same mold.

I'm not claiming to be a basketball expert. I do feel that I have a very solid foundation of basketball knowledge, but will never say that my level of basketball IQ or insight is any better than anyone else's. But it has nothing to do with basketball knowledge to realize that all you post on basketball lately is little subtle jabs, aimed at the current coach, here and there designed to stay under the radar. If you think that this makes you more mature, then by all means enjoy having your grown up glass of scotch (which I fully support for the record because scotch is delicious).

Payne was a viable candidate. Who knows if he would have been better than Coach Ray this year, or in the long haul, though. Like I've always said, Ray may end up not being the right man for the job when its all said in done. But as he is currently our coach, he deserves a chance to prove that he is not, at the very least.

I guess you've failed to read pretty much everyone say that it's a "wait and see" game on whether or not Ray can recruit. No one is even coming close to believing the garbage you're spewing.

There are many here that I don't read. I'm adding you to the list.

And you couldn't be more wrong with your last sentence.
