Polk has defeated 2 higher ranked opponents to get to 3rd Round. Any info on the Wolverines.

Starmount has a balanced offense with an 1,700 yard rusher and 1,200 yard passer.

Polk is very big up front. Should be a good game. EW should have been an 11 seed. Defense got exposed down the stretch the last 4 or 5 games.

Polk's been through a lot this year, their best all around player Markell Lipscomb lost his life in a car accident before the season started and then they lost their stud RB Elijah Sutton to a torn ACL in their first game. Polk would've had a much better regular season with those two, it's the equivalent for Polk of Mount Airy losing Donovan Greene and Jonathan Smith.

It's pretty awesome what Coach Ollis and those players have done in the playoffs given that adversity, they're playing with house money at this point.

Polk walking into North Rowan, and waltzed out with a win. I think N Rowan was better than Starmount, but that was last week, this is now. Never underestimate a high seeded team this late in the play offs. Mitchell went to the 4th round as a 15 seed in 2010, and Walkertown went to the 4th round as a 10 seed in 2015, both had losing records in the regular season.

Actually 2015 Walkertown didn’t have a losing record in the regular season. They finished 6-5, 5-1 in the NW1A. Not trying to not-pick, as I totally understand the point you’re making.

If Polk gets past Starmount and then also gets past Mt.Airy/ES then they will have pulled off a tremendous accomplishment. I don’t see it happening, but never say never. There’s a reason you actually play the game and don’t just go by rankings on paper.

Good post, and I concur that Coach Ollis is a tremendous football coach who always seems to get the best out of his Wolverine team....

Still hard to believe that Polk County is still playing in the 3rd round with all the adversity that they've dealt with this year....Kudos to the Wolverines and Coach Ollis for rallying the troops and making a deep playoff run....

They have had a tremendous terrible beginning to a season and to come back and make the playoffs as a 16 seed and a 3 win team and To be still playing ....WoW those kids I have coached against and we (sons) have played with since they were 7 makes me super happy. Don’t sleep on them WOLVERINES

Like mbdfan said, Polk is playing with house money at this point. They are on a hot streak, with nothing to lose, and that is a dangerous combination this deep.

Rams take this game. They are not back to the old Starmount, but the program is heading in that direction.

Rams move on. They should be Proud. Start 0-4 I believe and now in Western Finals with rematch vs East Surry. Will be a tough game for the Rams. East Surry has been solid all season and playing really good past few weeks.
It's the Playoffs in December...anything could happen! Will be fun environment, if bball games weren't going on I'm sure most of the area would be at the game!
