Well, since I can't vote...

...and since I'm a numbers guy, I'd go with the field. Doesn't Vegas still show LPT as the 3-1 favorite? Last time I checked, that meant the field was supposed to win two outta three times that the tourney is played...

"Elite program", my a$$.

The Field.

No doubt UK has a great shot at winning the tournament, but we all know that all it takes is one bad/off night. The truth is UK could beat most teams with their C game.

This has been a "down year" in college basketball overall (just stare at your bracket for proof), but you cannot take anything away from what UK accomplished in the regular season. This tournament is a new season though. I am fully expecting UK to elevate their level of play, but they will still be challenged in the later rounds. Should be interesting.

I like UK to win it all. They are EVEN money to win... best odds ever in Vegas.
But if I were betting, I'd still take the field. It's a pretty smart bet, especially in a one-and-done tournament.

The field, because I'm just going with the odds of 67 teams versus one team.

And I see a certain fanbase got wind of this poll.

The smart bet is the field simply because of the numbers involved. UofK has a seriously great chance at beating the field, but they still have to win 6 in a row.

With that said, I'll take UofK over the field to cut down the nets. They have no excuses. They have the best team by far and they've proven that time after time after time. Now they have to finish it. I think they'll be focused on the task because each kid wants to be on the roster that is the first to go 40-0. I think they'll do it.

Everyone who hasn't been banned should vote for UK just to irritate CPT fans....and then listen to them spin the poll results....it's a long 4 days until Thursday.....
Funny thread.

I think you have to go with the field. By my account, over the last 10 years, the best team wins about half the time. Starting in 2005, you have;

2005 UNC - Best Team
2006 Florida - No
2007 Florida - Best Team
2008 Kansas - Debatable
2009 UNC - Best Team (I know Cards were overall #1 but eye test slanted heavily to UNC that year)
2010 Duke - No
2011 UConn - No
2012 UK - Best Team
2013 Cards - Best Team
2014 UConn - No

I do feel that this year's UK team is probably the most obvious lock since Florida in 2007, but that team was laced with upper classmen who had just won the title the year before. I think they have the easiest waltz to the Final Four, and they did get a little lucky with Wisky and Zona being in the same region, but I just couldnt throw money at one team to win this tourney. Obviously if you are forced to pick one team and its not UK, you're reaching, but taking the other 67 teams is a no brainer.

Gotta go with the field. Uk has looked vulnerable at times in SEC play. Makes me wonder what will happen if they run into one of the few teams that have the ability to beat them.

Just couldn't help yourself, could you. That is a big time NO regarding whether the best team won it that year. UofL was awarded the overall #1 seed which means they were the best team that year and they should have won the title. Eye test or not.

Cue, I don't necessarily think the # overall seed means you were the best team. UK was awarded the #1 overall seed in 2004 and weren't one of the top 3 teams IMO, and the UK team with Wall and Cousins wasn't the # overall despite being pretty clearly the best team.

As for 2005, UNC was better. Loaded with pros. It took a miracle for Illinois to come back from a 15 pt deficit vs Arizona in the last 4 minutes that year for them to even get to the final four.

How so? I mean that's how the committee sees it. The team that has the best overall body of work is awarded the overall #1 seed which in turn, labels them as the team to beat for the tourney. This year it is (rightfully so) UofK, If the Wildcats from Kentucky lose to ANYONE in the tourney, they will have lost to a team not considered the best. If the team that is the overall #1 seed loses regardless of the year, then the best team for that year did not win the NCAA tournament. This isn't hard.

As long as the tournament is not played in Corrupt Arena, UK will not win the NC, I am taking the field.
