Could be the signature win for a turnaround of the program...something to build off of,just make sure there's not a letdown the next game.

I myself thought it was going to get ugly early when ND went up 14-0 with very little resistance from Thomasville

The THS Bulldogs made a lot of people in DC happy Friday night. I was at the Salisbury & ND game. When they announced the score in the 4th, both crowds cheered really loud. Thank you guys, the community, the coaching staff, and especially them players. You guys served ND more humble pie!
Anybody but ND!!!

Thomasville should win all the rest of their games except Oak Grove pretty easily. West may give them a battle for a bit but I expect Tville to win convincingly.

The problem with Oak Grove is that from what I observed Tville can be had by a good offensive line. Oak Groves O Line is much better than NDs is, and ND ran for quite a few yards.

However, I do believe the Dogs are on the way back up with their current coach and if they drop to 1A in the next realignment they will be a force. Good luck on the rest of the season guys!

Also like to compliment the Bulldog Coaching staff and Principal for being very level headed and not reacting to the hard slap handshakes and smart !@@S comments from a few ND coaches going thru the line after the game. Before getting on the buses one of the ND coaches tried to attack the THS principal and had to be contained by ND players.

Seriously? WTF to that. Good on the players for being more mature than the coaches if this is true. Any idea who it was?

I heard it was the one who likes to be the most demonstrative outside of the head coach. I will let you decide who that is. I also heard that he was lucky they didn't let him get close to whoever he was trying to attack or he would have gotten killed.

I have a pretty good idea then... I will always cheer for the players but the past few years, not just this season, have me frustrated as a former player and graduate, not to mention coaching in other places. There's a way to conduct yourself and this is not it. I acted a bit brash when I was in the Corps but I have mellowed out since then. Football is a game and it's fun. It can also be heartbreaking when you lose a certain way but we have to keep things in perspective as adults. This, as well as past assertions do not exactly paint an endearing picture...

Funny you guys say that. The head coach from Parkland went after one of the coaches doing their mid field handshake. I was on the ND side, I noticed it after he was going after him, so all the ND folks was bashing the Parkland coach. The ND coaches are having to actually coach this year. And I’m sorry they just can’t get it done. It’s been shown. Sounds like time for Coach Flynn to reconsider his coaching staff. Just curious, how many of these guys are left over from Coach Holcomb staff?

No offense but ND isn’t the program they once were since Oak Groove been built, because a lot of athletes that would normally be at ND are now at OG

You’re right. But they’ve still got 400 more students and 20 more players than Thomasville. And some good athletes. Any time you beat North Davidson, it’s something to be proud of.

I agree with what you are saying in the last few decades.

However, stacking up the seasons from way way back, this North Davidson juggernaut is a relatively new thing. There was the great season in 1991, when Thomasville lost to ND for the first time in like a quarter of a century... then there was another year when the game was competitive... Then North hit the skids for a few years. Then they came back... Thomasville has been so consistently excellent over the years, (minus the last few years, as they are now charting a path back to their glory days)

Long story short, you’re right. Given North’s most recent success, people are still excited to beat them, as they should be.

I mean, North was very excited to beat West Forsyth when they were in a conference together... and many years West Forsyth had 800-850 more students. Beating a bigger school is a badge of honor.

I don’t have an exact answer to your question... but looking through an old program from a couple of years ago, I’d say there are at least 4 or 5 coaches who were there before he went to OG.

I don’t want to defend anyone here, but its not always up to a coach who comes and who goes. Especially with this new high school, many people ended up getting shifted who didn’t want to go, or conversely, wanted to go, but couldn’t due to other staffing needs.

Gotcha!!! But it seems to be a problem at ND. Most people on here complain about coaches bad play calling, game management, or philosophy. But you very rarely see people complaining about the character of a coach or coaching staff. I feel with ND, it’s always that. Even you guys own fan base complain about the coaches behavior or character. That would worry me if that was my team!

There have been some problems for sure in the last year or two. The only North game I’ve seen this year is the one when they came to Oak Grove.

Here is something completely non-football related... well, mostly non-football...

At a high school graduation ceremony, is it acceptable for members of a sporting team to bark like dogs when their coach gets up to speak? How about barking when members of said team walk across the stage?

Not in my book. Not at North Davidson. My entire life, and I graduated from there... I’ve heard it said, albeit only from folks in Welcome, “North is classy. We exude class. Etc. etc. etc.”

I believed it. I really did. I’m still certain that most folks there are indeed classy. But lets look back over the last year an a half. Softball cheating scandal. Coach fired. The softball community is in an uproar. I’ve even heard it said, “we cheated, but its up to the other team to catch us. They didn’t”. (It was an in-house whistle blower). Don’t forget the former basketball coach who left last year, only to quickly be arrested over the summer for an inappropriate student relationship.

And now we’ve got coaches slapping hands in the line like a little-league team? I didn’t see it... I don’t know if it happened first hand. But daggum. If that is true, and if the coach going after Thomasville staff after the game is true (again, I wasn’t there)... There are likely going to be more issues as we go through this year.

It’s one thing to be classy. It’s another thing to think you’re classy when you aren’t. Self-image seems to be lacking.

You said it. I wasn't even aware of a lot of what you pointed out because I don't live locally anymore but I knew some of it.

Allow me to draw a parallel with Nebraska fans. All my life I read about and heard about Nebraska fans being the classiest in college football. They clap for the other team as they go off the field, win or lose. But is that a facade? If you go to the Husker Board on rivals, you quickly realize that many people on there are not classy and just love to get under peoples skin. Hey, it's the internet so I know there are gonna be a-holes. But there are an unusual amount on that site lol.

Entitlement can be an ugly thing. It's easy to be classy when you win. When you lose you quickly find out what peoples true colors really are. And it can be mind blowing.

North Davidson people have an uncanny ability to BS themselves. They thought we should have been state champs the past two years, even though we ran into clearly better overall teams. Shelby more so than East Duplin but the point remains. There was even a guy who the other night said we should have beat Charlotte Independence and Chris Leak in 2001 lmao.

Thomasvilles ADM numbers will not grow based on what is rising from the middle school versus graduating. They are also losing kids to The Point charter over in High Point and other local schools. Likely to stay somewhere in the the mid 600 range at best. As for football, there are kids in the hallways that could and should be playing, so hopefully with the very good coaching staff, resurgence of the program and building relationshsips some of those kids will come out. in 2015 THS had 35-40 on varsity and could meet those numbers again.

But this thread is about Thomasville. Back to their continued resurgence. Robertson is a heck of a coach who gets the most out of his players. When Tville gets numbers to go with talent again, watch out.
Tt Thomasville middle school initially had 47 kids on the roster this year. That’s almost double from the past several years. It was trimmed down to around 40. Very good football group coming up

Bright future for the Dogs and the middle school coach is doing a good job growing numbers. THS needs 18-20 in each class to make it all four years and they will be fine with that added depth. I see the Dogs getting back top winning the conference and making deep runs in the next four years.

I know Doug Robertson has not been head man at Thomasville but a couple of years, but this is to let your fan base know that when the Bulldogs win 2 more games that will give Doug is 100th win as a head coach.....first year as a head coach was 2009 season....not bad seeing as how he should easily reach the 100 win mark this season...He's a good one.....you guys need to hold onto him.......................

Thanks for letting us know. We definitely need to recognize that when it happens. He certainly is a good one and I hope he stays around a long time!
