After I gave the group a C- prior to this three game streak, it's time to revisit

The Southern Miss lost still really stings considering we could be looking at 9 wins in our scope; however realistically speaking a 7 win season or maybe even 8 is now entirely possible. A few observations:

1) offensive line has turned completely around
2) defense has turned completely around
3) Johnson has improved greatly
4) recruiting is still strong
5) player development was not evident but sure seems to be now
6) still no long term answers in recruiting on the defensive line
7) 2017 looks very strong with so much returning

I hate to go to extremes. One good half against SMU and this is an A+ season. That was impactful enough to bring us down to a B+. This is up from a C- for me in three weeks time.

Win one of the next two, then you have an A. Lose all but Austin Peay, then you might slip to a B but this team has now locked in meeting expectations for the year with plenty of chances to exceed.

B+ (up from C-)

For me, starting 0-2 and now being 5-3 4-2 in the SEC
A+

This team could've folded and let the season go to hell but didn't. I've referenced this 100x times but I still cannot get the Southern Miss game out of my head. We could be 6-2 right now. :chairshot:

I agree with the grade. Not sure I would say A+ outside of USM given that the Florida game was completely utterly miserable but think you're dead on with the rest of your assessment. UK has taken care of business against the teams it should beat. That's not to discredit them at all...in past years, we would have maybe split these 4 winnable SEC games, at best. That's progress.

Yep, Southern Miss is a huge disappointment but was the first game of the season and won't hurt us that much

Still it knocks us down a full letter grade for me. we would have 6 and guaranteed 7 and three more other opportunities. Instead, we have 5 and guaranteed 6 with three more opportunities

No matter what we do, we will all wonder what it would be if we added that SMU win. Win some you shouldn't is the best you can do. I know the last three games weren't murderer's row, but we beat long odds winning all of them in total.

I doubt we would have won all of these games without the southern miss loss , part of the problem was the players psyche . They thought they had that game and let up , it burned them in the second half when they couldn't turn it back on . Florida was a carry over effect , they were still pouting about it and UF came to play that resulted in a lopsided affair . At that point they had a choice and it forced their hand . It wasn't all of the problem but it was significant none the less , losing to USM probably made for a better season than if we'd have won .

Of responses so far, B+, A+, B- is a far cry from the universal C-, D's and F's we had before along with the cries to hire coaches who watch their players rape people

I was losing it for this staff, so I get it. But man, what a turnaround and what a good feeling to hold our heads high late in football season!

Excluding the loss to USM, I'd give us a B+ because of how poorly we showed up against Florida. Not saying we should have won, but we should have been more competitive with them. Throw in the loss to USM and I say we're at a B.

As for what we can accomplish going forward, I think if we beat either UGA or UT, we go up to a B+, beat both and we're at a soft A, if we win out (which is highly unlikely unless we play lights out and Lamar jackson doesn't play for OTIS) , that's an A+ season even with the loss to USM, which would only sting even more, because of how great this season has been.

A solid B+ to also up from a C. Interesting year for me. UK is very likely going to end it's bowl draught. CSU has pulled up to 4-4, and CU a team I hated for years, but recently have had a paradigm shift on is going bowling for the first time in 10 years. And of course the Bronco's are the defending SB champs. It's good to be a football fan. November this year is not about basketball, it's about football!

B. Thing is we're a 1.5gpa student as a program. Here's the thing win a couple of the next few (aside from ap) and this thing becomes an A-A+! Who would've thought the turnaround could happen after the so miss/Florida debacles.

To be where they are after all the nonsense, how can a fan not be ecstatic?

I don't think you can just throw out the start to the season, or the struggles at times in the passing game... But the defense has been better than i thought coming in and the run game has been a revelation.

I am going to give a B plus, we lost one we should have won, we won two on the road and have assured at least a even Conference record. If we win 2 of next 4 I will give this season a A and a A plus if we win our bowl.
