Yeah we are next to last ..only above UCLA
Except the writer forgot to mention we are still years out from receiving our full B1G share.
Hence our Revenue is way behind.
Doesn’t explain how Northwestern can be ranked so far above us.Our ticket revenue and donation revenue is not competitive. We have a long way to go.

Seems like Northwestern might be better off than you claim.Doesn’t explain how Northwestern can be ranked so far above us.
They draw diddly squat. No way their ticket revenue is above us. ( and separate topic they have no NIL backing either)

Forget "Ban NIL".
If people want to make a real difference for "equality" in college sports then "Ban Athletics Department donations".
That'll quickly level the playing field.
Of course, then the athletic departments would have to actually have some modicum of control over their spending and that'll never happen.
You realize most of those donations would disappear, not go to other Rutgers' programs?
It would also essentially make all college sports what D3 is today. If that's what you want, then fine.
Don't tell al that. He thinks a team cannot succeed without NIL backing and shiny new toys. NW has gotten worse since they got their shiny new toy facility.Doesn’t explain how Northwestern can be ranked so far above us.

My guess is that UCLA was already in a P-5 conference along with being in a position that made their staying in the PAC a death sentence for the B1G expanding to the West Coast .Looks like UCLA needed the B1G just as much as we did. I wonder why they had so much pull in negotiations and we had absolutely 0.
We got a 6 yr. buy in starting at $9 mil. and we’re still paying back loans till 2027. They get full share starting at around $70 mil.. I’m 2024. Equal equity at current market value, my ***.
$70 mil. vs $9 mil. In the 1st yr. and probably $300 to $400 million over the 1st 6 yrs.. That’s a helluva lot of pull and a helluva President/AD for a school which is broke. My guess is that UCLA was already in a P-5 conference along with being in a position that made their staying in the PAC a death sentence for the B1G expanding to the West Coast .
Also UCLA could be considered a traditional power and the perfect rival for USC along with being in a major TV market
Without adding UCLA ,USC might not have been willing to jump
Rutgers might have had the NY/NJ Metro area in its favor but was stuck in the a minor league conference that lessened it's bargaining power.
10 NCAA National Championships in 12 years / John Wooden, Lew Alcindor , Bill Walton, et. etc. The DEFINITION of college basketball royalty = Many more viewing eyeballs for our TV partners to drool over !Looks like UCLA needed the B1G just as much as we did. I wonder why they had so much pull in negotiations and we had absolutely 0.
I’m almost positive half a century ago wasn’t part of the negotiations. Also the NY/NJ TV market by last count is still #1.10 NCAA National Championships in 12 years / John Wooden, Lew Alcindor , Bill Walton, et. etc. The DEFINITION of college basketball royalty = Many more viewing eyeballs for our TV partners to drool over !
I respectfully disagree. I am almost positive the UCLA bball accomplishments of a half century ago persist today in giving the UCLA Brand an aura of royalty that draws many more eyeballs to TV screens that TV execs are well aware of and certainly factored in the negotiations. UCLA vs Michigan State will certainly draw in much more TV ratings than Michigan State against many other teams... just in teh name aloneI’m almost positive half a century ago wasn’t part of the negotiations. Also the NY/NJ TV market by last count is still #1.
I normally agree with you on a lot of things, but UCLA was a great get for the B1G paired with USC. Their basketball facility is legendary. They play in the Rose Bowl. As Slyker noted, they bring a a storied history.I’m almost positive half a century ago wasn’t part of the negotiations. Also the NY/NJ TV market by last count is still #1.
So to my original point before the sideshow walk down John Wooden memory lane. UCLA is $300 to $400 million over 6 yrs. more valuable? Remember the original agreement, or so B1G office's said, Rutgers was buying equal equity at current market value. So UCLA is worth some $50 to $65mil. more a year? You really think that lowly of Rutgers?I normally agree with you on a lot of things, but UCLA was a great get for the B1G paired with USC. Their basketball facility is legendary. RU brought the NYC market, and that's about it.
You are arguing that USC and Rutgers are comparable? I know the subject is UCLA, but you do understand that USC would still be in the PAC if they couldn't bring along UCLA. Also, by bringing UCLA the B1G locked up the entire SoCal market. If you ever lived in the West you would also know that UCLA basketball still is the dominant program. Rutgers was coming from the American, and to be frank, if Maryland didn't decide to jump with us, we likely would still be in the American. Be grateful that we happened to be located near NYC because we sure as hell didn't get in based on our football and basketball prowess and following. So to my original point before the sideshow walk down John Wooden memory lane. You know the Maryland deal as fact? Because I heard differently and Rutgers had been on the B1G’s mind for quite a while. So eventually it was going to happen.Rutgers was coming from the American, and to be frank, if Maryland didn't decide to jump with us, we likely would still be in the American. I mean our brand is nowhere near USC or UCLA. Not to say we can't improve our brand significantly. Basketball already has. If football is the hot ticket in the NYC market then it can do wonders for our brand circa 2006.You know the Maryland deal as fact? Because I heard differently and Rutgers had been on the B1G’s mind for quite a while. So eventually it was going to happen.
Also UCLA should be grateful they’re in Los Angles and not in say Oregon. Once again, but $50 to $65 mil. a year more valuable? We seem to keep skipping over this one. You really think that lowly of Rutgers, huh? Oh and USC called the B1G not the other way around. They were coming no matter what.
How many games did that beautiful facility win for them last season? That Northwestern spread is amazing
RU would have to be a playoff team in order for the gasbag talking heads in the NY media to pry their attention away from debating the identity of the Yankee's 4th outfielder.I mean our brand is nowhere near USC or UCLA. The NY market is full of bandwagoners. If you become nationally relevant, your brand is amplified significantly.
I don't donate to RU. I only donate to RU Athletics.Forget "Ban NIL".

Wait, UCLA should be grateful they are in LA, but Rutgers deserved to be in the B1G and should have gotten a full share based on what, our winning football and basketball history? LOL!!! Please, can we at least try to keep it somewhat grounded in reality. You know the Maryland deal as fact? Because I heard differently and Rutgers had been on the B1G’s mind for quite a while. I think an upset of a ranked PSU/OSU/UM gets us plenty of attentionRU would have to be a playoff team in order for the gasbag talking heads in the NY media to pry their attention away from debating the identity of the Yankee's 4th outfielder.
It is impressive…built 5 years ago. Huge windows facing the lake the entire field. Not so sure the aesthetics of seeing Lake Michigan while you practice everyday makes for building a tougher football team. When we finally get our long overdue full share B1G revenue in a few years maybe we can build a new modern indoor practice facility. As someone posted Northwestern probably gets a large amount of donations ( football ?) that pushes up their Ranking.Seems like Northwestern might be better off than you claim.

Embattled Michigan Falls to Rutgers
You’re the one who stated Rutgers should be grateful for being close to NYC. Then why is it different for UCLA being accept because of Los Angles? People are always quick to blame Gary Nova but that was huge as well. That PSU game still pisses me off today.
We were winning late in the game and couldn’t get a needed 1st down. A 3rd Down pass sails 5 feet over the head of a wide open TE Kroft on the sideline. That is followed by the Defense {who had been playing great all game} whiffs on 3 tackles as PSU gets like a 40 yard gain.
In 2018 they announced they'd raised about $400 million for athletic facilities from private sources (Donors).Doesn’t explain how Northwestern can be ranked so far above us.

If we had beat Penn State, Flood probably would have gotten a huge raise.People are always quick to blame Gary Nova but that was huge as well.
Like it or not.
UCLA is a name brand and that gave them leverage
Rutgers is not .
If Rutgers had the same name recognition as UCLA has, does anyone think Nebraska would have got their B1G invite before RU as given one?
The B1G wanting a strong foothold on the west coast made UCLA and USC the logical targets for the B1G to expand into a coast to coast conference and that gave both USC & UCLA more negotiating power then even a traditional power like Nebraska had when they jumped from the B-12 to the B1G.
If we had beat Penn State, Floo probably would have gotten a huge raise.
He'll probably change his tune about wanting back to the PAC , if the B1G grams Cal, Stanford, Oregon and Washington like I think will happen.
I think the B1G is just waiting for the PAC Media rights deal to go through, but not voted on, yet, and then open up the gates for those 4 programs.
What their revenue sharing payout, at first, will be based on what the media rights go for and it probably will be less than what the PAC was receiving ( around $28+ mil per school ) because of the loss of UCLA & USC
I don't believe when UCLA and USC start playing a B1G schedule they will be the only West Coast programs in the conference.
You are aware that UCLA has won 11 basketball national championships? They have also won 121 total team national championships. As for football, they have won 5 Rose Bowls. Please, we all love Rutgers, but again, let's keep it real. You’re the one who stated Rutgers should be grateful for being close to NYC. Then why is it different for UCLA being accept because of Los Angles? The B1G wasn’t even looking at them until USC came calling.
Also you didn’t even know that it was USC who reached out to the B1G.and not the other way around. They were coming no matter who the partner was. So it’s obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about which is why you went after me personally.
