He was the heart and soul of that great Cardinals team.
Crawford made a great point about Wes being a big part of why Griff and Turner ending up at Belknap instead of going somewhere else.
I'd love to see PK find those Louisville kids that are in the mold of undersized forwards that went to war in the paint, fighting for everything they got. They're out there.

Well said Mayoman!

Interesting story about Wesley; during the Indiana vs Kentucky HS AllStar game, Jock Sutherland was doing the color analysis on the radio. The highly competitive Jock called Wes out for “dogging it” during the game, as he was slow getting back down the court on the defensive end. So much so, Jock went on to question Wes attitude during part of his early time at UL.

No one, including UL realized until well into his sophomore season that Wes suffered from acute asthma, to the point where he was getting less than 50% of his oxygen. Once Jock was told that Wes was diagnoses as asthmatic, he apologized profusely to Wes and UL fans for his failure to understand just how much it affected his performance.

Denny told a group of us some years after Wes graduated from UL, that he believed that Cox was as talented as any player that he had ever coached, including Griffith.

I went to Male HS with Henry Bacon and met Wes early on, and had numerous interactions with him over the years.

He was always a humble gentleman on every occasion.

He was a great person as well as BB players.

He will be missed.
