The last thing we need is to get Congress involved in college sports. I could only imagine the cluster %^$& that would turn out to be. I can envison a couple of Bills now "Redistribution of Athletic Talent" better know as the RAT act, or "National Uniform Tailoring Standards" or Nuts Act (to ban Marylands uniforms). And thank god Auburn and Alabama are in the same state or there'd end up a border war.
A blatant give away to the big boys, like a lower limit on signings, or subsidies, with a transparently thin justification like "they're the revenue producers, so we have to incentivize them (over and above what's clearly incentive enough)" that the lemmings and rubes will eat up.
