Sense of urgency

It's like I can't wait for Northern Ill to see if we make changes, get some pass rush, respond to our deficiencies and correct some problems. I expected a disruptive D. The one that our own offensive players said they've learned a ton from practicing against.
Do the coaches feel it? Are they saying their coach speak to the press but behind closed doors pulling their hair out?
Are they content that the 2nd half adjustments have helped?
I sure hope not. As a fan of this proud program for decades I can't watch teams march up and down the field, points or no points it's just too frustrating. We need more TOP for our offense and energizing defensive play. I want to see some emotion out of the coaches that we won't settle for less.

Welp....you better find a bridge because Riley is not going to be an emotion on his sleeve coach. And Diaco's defense is fundamentally a bend-not-break however aggressive he gets with it.

Lol, thanks for the advice, didn't want to come off as unhinged, but just wondering if other people are feeling this same sense of urgency? There must be some strategies in the 3-4 that could allow for some more disruption.

I think urgency is going to be relative. The basic cut line is going to be folks who were willing to give a transition to Diaco, and folks that will hear of no such thing. While it is still possible to win the West, I didn't really expect it this year, and so my greatest intangible is to look for learning the players he has, growth of those players week to week, and then probably the evolution of those play calls to match ability.

In terms of tangibles, I still think we are able to go 2-0 on Wisconsin and Iowa.

I think our defensive personnel and scheme will match up better with Wisconsin and Iowa than they did with Oregon.

We didn't hire him to run an aggressive, in-your-face defense. As much as I think Diaco has gotten of to a bad start, I don't think it's fair to expect him to change what he was hired to do.

Also with PSU and tOSU the matchups are better - BUT not sure we have enough firepower to beat either of those teams. Not that tOSU is a great on O - but scoring will be a problem vs. tOSU front 7. We don't have Baker Mayfield under center if you watch closely this last weekend

Not sure what's so hard to figure out. We can blame coaching all you want, but we don't have the athletes. We aren't close to have their athletes and never will. We need to get some top 10 classes not top 40. Until the athletes change get use to blaming the coaches. 3 stars don't win against 4 and 5 stars - law of averages.

Will this suffice?

Riley would have LOVED to be 2-0 against Oregon at NU and we probably should be. Crappy start to that game and a couple of really bad deflections on balls ending in turnovers. Stuff happens.

Yep. Sometimes that happens on the road in a **** environment. The kids battled back. At the end of the day they are 18-22 year old kids. As you stated, **** happens and it didn't go our way. On to No. Illinois.

Per MR,,, guess he feels a sense of urgency too

“We should be so hungry to practice today,” Riley said. “We they look at that (game film), they should just be sick, and they should want to get out there and work to be better than that. I don’t care if we’re playing the Green Bay Packers or whatever, it should be about us wanting to be better."

The offensives take on a disruptive defense could be one mediocre unit going up against another mediocre unit. Nothing more
