Should Beamer stipulate the new OC retain anyone from the current offensive staff?

I don't think anyone on the offensive staff deserves to be retained. Maybe some units would have performed better with a competent OC, but that's the way it goes. When a HC is canned, the whole staff usually gets blown up. I think it should be the same way for a coordinator. A new OC should get to pick people to work under him who he wants to run his system. I hope Beamer doesn't approach this hire that he just plans to plug a new OC into the existing staff. Needs a total refresh in my opinion

No win situation. Retaining the offensive staff isn't exactly a recipe for success and having a totally new staff means they will have to learn the players and the players will have to adjust to new coaches and that won't make things better either. Also, the number of players going in the portal would probably be huge if every offensive coach was fired.

The ship is sinking.

The ship has already sunk. It's beneath the waves and heading straight for the bottom.

It's almost as if the fans (us) get to tell Beamer "We told you so....." with those awful, awful OC hires and retaining the OL coach for 3 years who was also awful.

He'll learn that we were right when he's unemployed. After A&M blows us out and we look completely sloppy vs Coastal and lose to Clemson, Beamers seat will be ablaze with hotness. Will likely be fired then.

Doubt the told you so matters to him as the university has made a multi millionaire. Plus, he’ll probably still think he made the right hires.

He probably won’t remain unemployed. He won’t ever be an hc again and doubtful he becomes an OC or DC. But the position coach gig ain’t terrible.

As long as he beats Coastal, he isn't getting fired after this year. If he finds a way to get to 7 or 8 wins next season, he will be safe for another couple of years. If he manages to beat Clemson this season, he might get a raise.

It is an interesting position he is in. When/if he is let go, what coach would bring him in as a coordinator? Is he a DC? An OC? I think dropping to a position coach is too far to fall.

Analyst would be the safe bet. Or, ST coach. I can see someone putting him on charge of special teams.

Special teams coach is about all I can see. No one is going to hire him as head coach and he has no experience as a coordinator.

No wonder South Carolina is "where he wants to be". It is the only place where he can make head coach money.

Would agree really small school hire him? Furman? SC State?

SC State isn't going to hire a white coach. I don't see what appeal he would have to a small program as head coach.

Im just thinking a small school would value a "former SEC head coach". But probably only a local one.

I believe the chances would be minimal though.

I would stipulate that he keeps Elliot. He can pull him from the OL and move him to TE's or another position if desired. Could even be an analyst but he's staying.

Why the need to keep him?

I honestly dont have an opinion on it. Just curious of yours.

Some may not agree with my reasoning, but he's a gamecock from Gamecock country (Camden i believe). Good recruiter with in-state ties. Players love him and he is a good OL coach. There is a place for him on this staff. It may be a deal breaker if Beamer demands Elliot remain the OL coach. That said, there is a place for him on the offensive side of the ball. Keeping him on staff won't be a deal breaker.

Fair enough. Good reasoning. Imo

I could be on-board with that. Heck, given the option, maybe the new OC likes him enough to keep him outright (as OL). But if not, it would be nice to keep him on staff, I agree.
