Should PSU be ranked next week?

Started the season at #2 and beat Nevada, FIU and Villanova. Then lost to Oregon and UCLA.

This highlights the major problem with pre-season rankings.

IMHO, "official" polls should not be released till mid October.
With that said, now that every publication, web site, etc have their own polls there is no way that this phenomenon will ever go away.

I don't really care about unofficial pre-season polls, but the ones that actually factor into the CFP should be done away with. A mid-October poll as you suggest would look almost nothing like the preseason polls we had.

Had forgotten about and still don’t understand why the board shufflin’ crew was so upset about that, firing darts at ‘all those’ that had ‘bought into the hype’. Under the veneer of normality there’s some weird s__t that goes on here.

Agreed. It should shake out by the end of the season, but I hate the thought of pivotal poll placements being affected by leftover preseason poll standings. In the rare occasion it does.

Also, puppy seems very upset about it, so thats a bonus. :)

The people need the AP poll for matchup interest during the first half of the year. They are pointless I agree, but it makes things seem more exciting.
