Because he’s what..21 years old. Let him develop on an NFL roster with professional quarterback mentors and see where he’s at in his mid 20’s. He can launch the football there no doubt about his arm strength and physical tools. I think he would do well to develop behind Dak Prescott personally.

I get it. Some team will think that with proper coaching, they can be the ones to get him to shine. He has the arm, and the legs to be successful in the NFL.

I just wonder if an NFL team wouldnt be smarter to grab a guy with slightly less physical traits (if at all) along with showing that he has the mental aptitude for the position.

Does the NIL $$ have a shelf life? If his sponsors go sour, seems he might shop around for a new team.

In all honesty, someone in the NFL will take a gamble on his arm strength and elusiveness. The only question is which round.

I think he's gone, but its to the NFL.

If he were to get a crappy draft grade? I think it would be in his best interests to go find a team with a functional OL, and some offensive coaches. That way he may shine enough to earn his way back to a high round.

NFL teams aren't going to throw first or second round money at a "project" qb. They might gamble with a fifth or sixth round pick and give him three seasons to turn into something before they cut him loose.

Agree. With the expansion of NFL practice squad rosters, he can find a place to develop. Maybe there's someone out there than can help him?

They might be smarter to do that. A lot of boards have Sellers ahead of guys like Sam Leavitt, John Mateer, and Cade Klubnik. Doesn’t mean Sellers wouldn’t still get his opportunity somewhere. I couldn’t see him dropping past the third round.

Shedeur Sanders: He had terrific college stats & went in 5th rd.
Made his debut yesterday.
Sanders' NFL stats were horrific. 😬
The NFL eats QBs like a hungry disposal.

I actually thought of Sellers when seeing part of that game. The announcers flatly commented that dancing around in the pocket and holding onto the ball doesn't work in the NFL.

Sanders isn’t the Athlete Sellers is, nor does he have the size or arm strength.

After finding a way to beat CU, his upside looked quite promising.
But right now, I can't see any NFL team taking him earlier than 5th. Look what they did with Shadeur.
Agree. All of this first-round talk is nonsense, IMO. If goes in Rnd 1, I'll eat a fried boot!

Anthony Richardson and the Colts disagree with you.

One example doesn't a case make.....lol

What was inaccurate in my statement?

The claim was made that NFL teams won't behave a certain way and I provided an example of where it's already (recently) happened. That demonstrates the claim is false. I wasn't saying it would happen with Sellers, just that you can't say they don't when they already have.

The folks in the NFL have a lot of money but don't always demonstrate a lot of prudence and the combination can be extremely expensive.
Look at the fools who whizzed away a quarter of a billion dollars on a guy who wasn't healthy and embroiled in dozens of sleazy lawsuits - they're addicted to any sort of "hope", so never say never.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what rules the day when he's ready to make the move.

I didn't say you were wrong at all. I am saying that one outlier is not the norm. Could he go 1st round? Sure, but I wouldn't bet on it at this point.

To clarify - I'm not saying it's the norm, just that one can't claim the NFL doesn't do it because they obviously did it recently (and have done it in the past. Heck, JaMarcus Russell was the first overall pick and they were saying almost the same things about him regarding his size and strength. It's just toooooo tempting for many in charge of draft picks).

And I'm not a betting man but I wouldn't wager on it either. Like I said though, we'll have to wait and see - a lot could change between now and then and I wish him the best.
