South Carolina basketball announces another redshirt

I just don't understand this landscape. What reason to redshirt other than to transfer or save an extra year to make money from whatever college will pay. Is there another reason. Most freshman attack their first year so they are prepared to help the team the next 3 years. What am I missing? I'm gone tell my wife I'm redshirting this year so I can attack the things I need to be a better husband and come back stronger next year unless some other woman is willing to give me more.
