Upon further review, my post was stupid, mean-spirited, and just plain wrong. My apologies.
For me, St. Rita--playing 8A finalist MC, 7A finalist BR, 5A finalist SF and 6A Naz (who was one 2-pt conversion away from being a finalist--have prepared them very well to compete against and beat the top tier teams in the DuKane, the Hersey's, the Prospect's and DGN's of the world.
Those teams are NOT soft. I think Coach Piron is a top Coach in the state. Batavia's in it every year.
When DuKane Wheaton North soundly beat Rita in the '21 Championship game, they were not soft.
Rita has the lines of scrimmages to compete along with a great QB who hands it off to a great and tough RB and who passes to athletic and fast WRs.
Rita also has a coach along with staff who did not give up on his players, held them accountable and got his Seniors to look in the mirror and man up.
They beat a very good IC team in Elmhurst by 17 points (could have been by 30, imo) to get in.
And with confidence are now playing in the 7A Championship game against a rival in BR.
