No, screw trying to squeak into a crappy bowl (which we likely won't do). Save him for hopefully the next guy.

Removing the Redshirt from Hoak does not good whatsoever. If he was good enough he would be playing now.

absolutely not...

no sense on burning a red shirt on a lost season...the kid would go 1-6, 2-5 best case, get beat up in the process, maybe injured, and in all reality would probably play himself out of serious contention for job consideration next year...

Let SJ play it out, that way at the very least we head into next season with a QB with some sort of experience. He is the best option at this point and going forward.

CMS n staff need to hit the QB trail hard this off season, their jobs depend on it. I don't know if the guy that can really be a key factor in turning things around is on the roster.

Really need to hit the transfer trail for the immediate future, CMS doesn't have time to RS a kid and develop him for a couple years...

Already completely given up on Barker?

If Barker doesn't play any more this year then SJ is the man heading into the off season.

It's really hard to dethrone the seasoned guy who just went through the gauntlet with the team and has that chemistry and battle tested experience running the offense.

DB will be a solid back up next year that the coaches could give some situational run. Maybe he could be leader in the club house heading into his final season. Nothing wrong with that. The idea of a 5th year Barker on a team loaded with older experienced guys whether CMS is around or not is an interesting thought.

Staff still needs to hit the trail hard for QB though.

Being in the Army I've always admired Patton. He would never have won "man of the yr" but he was an excellent tactician and leader.

We where outmanned on offense. We are a scrappy defensive team with a good run game. We have a shot at 6 wins which is progress

Sheesh taking the red shirt off Hoak may not be something I agree with but I'm not going to call someone stupid because of it.

This seasons ceiling could be higher with Hoak as the QB.. Who knows.

I'd be willing to burn his RS if it meant an extra W or two.

I'm curious when you haven't been to any bowl in ten years, is there really a crappy bowl if this team would win 6?

This board cracks me up. We win a game against South Carolina and a lot of people are suddenly favoring Johnson and saying that he makes our offense so much better and all of this stuff. Then we go to Tuscaloosa and play the number 1 team in the country and suddenly Johnson is crap and we should pull the redshirt off of the third string true freshman because he is going to save our season. Have this reaction if we get the snot beat out of us against Vanderbilt, but it is silly to go to it when we just got beaten by the best team in the country.

You really think some true freshman is going to miraculously do better and make a difference against Alabama?

If burning one kids redshirt was the difference between winning more game in a season, I absolutely would do it.

Nothing I have seen or heard suggests throwing Hoak in would result in that.

Take Towles out. He's no good, Baker is better. He's the future.
Take Baker out, Johnson is better.
Take Johnson out, Hoak is better.
The only constant with the 3qb's we've used is a porous line. Granted, none of our q-
b's is aTim C. or even a d bonner, but TC himself would have a hard time with the lack of protection. IMO, Stoops needs to look at the TOTAL lack of production out of his o- line and make a coaching change.

No. False. That's a desperate coach trying to save his OWN ***, not giving two turds about that particular player's career or the big picture of the program.

Alabama's run defense would not have been nearly as good as it was against us, if they were worried that our qb could throw a deep pass. Ole Miss threw for over 420 yrs on that Bama defense. Ran for aver 100 yds. Bama's offense is not nearly good enough to win the SEC must less a championship. I am about positive Tennessee lays the wood to em in 2 weeks. I feel the more we keep getting embarrassed, the bigger the hit our recruiting takes. I don't understand how this staff lets 2 qb's leave after last year, leaving us in this position. I think with a senior Towles this year, we would have been in this game. If I'm not mistaken, Barker got hurt in his 1st game last year. They had to know we had to have a viable backup to Barker. If we finish 3-9 this year, which it is really looking that way, we'll never get a top 40 class again.

Who was the QB that Bill Curry burned his redshirt year in the very last game of the season?

With all due respect, burning a RS to win ONE game is beyond idiotic.

In fact any kid that wasn't promised PT his frosh year should have been redshirted, especially linemen and quarterbacks.

Perhaps if Johnson is seriously injured. Otherwise, no. If we actually have a game wrapped up late (Austin Peay?) I play Luke Wright. There is a lot to like about Johnson, but he must take better care of the ball (thank you, Mr. Obvious...) as we move into this stretch of what should be real contests, and hopefully develop the game to compete with UT and U of L as well.

Woodson did it often early in his career, he worked out fine.
