Definitely. Especially Havelock even though they lost a few good playersI heard from multiple people we were clearly better than Conley . I know it’s hard to tell from scrimmages. Looking forward to the jamboree this Friday. Get to scrimmage against rose and havelock
I feel coach Wooten overachieved with what he had to work with at Greene Central. He is a players coach. Also it seems the Havelock program was looking for a solid guy that would stick with the program a few years instead of the turnover that they have seen in recent years. I'm rooting for him to do well.I thought that was an interesting hire. Didn't think Wooten's record was worthy. Not knocking the guy. Just didn't seem to be up to Havelock's standards.
Wooten had a pretty decent record at Greene Central over the last 4 seasons. If you also consider that Havelock hired Jim Bob Bryant away from Greene Central in 2008 and he won three state championships, I could see them trying to catch lightning again from that bottle.I thought that was an interesting hire. Didn't think Wooten's record was worthy. Not knocking the guy. Just didn't seem to be up to Havelock's standards.
I agree, I felt he was a good hire. He is also very good at hamming it up with the media. I have heard from several Pitt sports reporters that he is fun to interview and is a glass half full kinda guy. The players he had at Greene loved to play for him and felt confident in their General going into battle. I know he is under alot of pressure this year but if the Havelock faithful can find a way to be patient they may find they have themselves a gem in Wooten.Coach Wooten is doing a great job here at Havelock. From what I saw at Mondays scrimmage against SW Onslow, there is a lot of enthusiasm and talent for him to work with on the team. But what I liked seeing was the discipline he is bringing. Coaching staff all seem to get along well. He also is very pleasant to talk with and communicates well with the fans. I think Havelock hired the right man.
