Reidsville. Tarboro can't pass and that would be their demise if they played some teams like Reidsville and Shelby that match them with size and speed and maybe even more athleticism.

Reidsville for speed. WR and QB
I don't know about this year but last season Tarboro and Reidsville looked similiar in the team speed department, hard to know for sure though without them being on the field together. Northeastern definitely had more speed than Reidsville in the title game.

Starting around 8 sophomore last year Reidsville wasn’t even expected to be there.

1998 Eastern 2A Regional Final (there was no 2AA back then)....Tarboro 49 Reidsville 18

2000...First round of 2A East playoffs......Reidsville 54 Tarboro 35

Doesn't answer the question about now....but there's a little history between the 2......think it would be a great matchup if it happened again....maybe someday...

30 & 32 years ago was the 20th century and can't in no way be compared to this decade and in the 21 century. I guess speculation is ok but nether team can be compared to this years 2 teams. Makes for a good conversation I guess.

Let's split this thing up 6 ways during the next realignment, get Tarboro back in 2A and maybe we can see this then.

Would be nothing to see Tarboro would not stop Reidsville's passing game and they are too one dimensional on offense. Enjoy being the king of 1A and 4 straight titles in this realignment.

This comment is pretty one-dimensional as it barely scratches the surface and goes straight for the cheap heat. Reidsville is a great program. There is no disrespect to Reidsville when I say this and I am aware this likely isn't a Reidsville guy but just a random clown. Tarboro has heard the "One-Dimensional, can't stop the passing game" trope for years. The trophy case over the last 10 years speaks for itself. Truth is Tarboro is at or near the top in any alignment. Whether you pass or run, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

I watched Tarboro against Lincolnton in Raleigh and I like that offense. It looked impossible to stop of course you don't always have Gurley as one of your backs. The defense was always tackling the wrong guy.

That’s the point. Tarboro went to 5 straight 2A title games. Gurley was only part of 2. You can’t just fixate on one RB because Tarboro might not have a single 1000 yard rusher, but they had 3-4 guys between 800-950. You have to tackle three guys every snap, and hope the QB didn’t just throw one over your head at the end.

Being one dimensional means something different to each individual. To some it means only being able to run or only being able to pass. Balance is being able to run and pass equally effectively.

That's a bit shortsighted in my opinion. If you run five wides balanced would be distributing the ball to five to seven receivers throughout the game, and if the QB is a threat to run he makes you pay on occasion with his legs, or the halfback burns you occasionally in a four wide set. Mike Leach does a good job of this with his Air Raid.

Tarboro is run balanced because every single play you have to watch four different backs to see if they have the ball, plus cover the tight ends. That means six threats every play. Power, dive, counter, qb keep and playaction pass are literally available at all times if so chosen.

One dimensional is lining up and giving one guy the ball nearly every play. At least in my opinion.

Oh yeah! One of our guys brought up the 2012 2A championship against East Lincoln. We lost that game late in the 4th deep in East Lincoln territory. After being pounded on by our offense all game long, most teams don't have enough to resist late in the 4th. Those guys rose up and took us down. It happens. They were the best that day, but man what a classic. I love those kinds of games, win or lose. That's why I give WRH so much respect. They have IT, whatever IT is.

I think after tonight there’s a new Goliath for the 2019 season.

1. East Surry
2. Tarboro
3. Holmes
4. Murphy

I think after last night Tarboro is STILL undefeated and the reigning State champs...still #1 until they’re eliminated.

That's it! Next week's AP poll!
Maybe but while I can see some sports writers voting for ES saying they beat the defending 2A a champs @ home others still will vote for Tarboro who is still the 1AA champ and beat 2A Southwest Edgecombe who is now Maxprep #6 not sure where they were the week before.
As far as Maxprep who knows with they're computer forumal but the computer doesn't care who was last year's champs according to Maxprep.." Prior season history, school size and comments on message boards are not considered in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings." But in their last rankings Tarboro's rating or str was 9.7 and ES -14.4 and while the win will definitely bring that rating up I'm guessing and it's that just a guess that Tarboro will stay #1 in the Maxprep.
