Via his personal Twitter page, Tennessee sophomore defensive lineman Jonathan Kongbo cryptically tweeted out this image:

Not exactly a positive sign following the tough defeat to South Carolina.

The redshirt sophomore out of Canada was regarded as the top JUCO prospect in the entire country last offseason. He signed with Tennessee over offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, USC and Florida State, and was expected to immediately bolster the Vols’ pass rush.

Apparently Hurd is going to finish his college FB with another program. Reports on VolNation that he did in fact quit. Unhappy with Jones, it seems. Could b a lot more turmoil going on.

This is a quote from a guy on volsnation that is somehow connected to the program, always knows the scoop.

"Jalen'sworked his tail off since he's been here, and it's time for him to move on. He's hurt, been hurt, playing hurt (even had an MRI today), and it's just time to go.

Butch made many promises to Jalen including running more of an I-formation (rememberwhat they did in the entire Outback Bowl last year) to convince him to stay, and then Butchnever ran it one time this year. Jalen knew hedidn't fit this system, and wanted to go find a better fit last year, but he believed what thestaff said to him so he stayed.

He's taken a beating, and wants to have a longcareer in the NFL one day. He will no longerplay RB and is considering a change to WR/TE. He is not going to the NFL right now nor does he want to. He's going to go to another offense and develop at the position first.

He spent time with about 20 of his closest teammates tonight at the team meeting and told them what he had decided. Most knew anyway. Pretty sure he broke down as this has been hard on him.

Most Vol fans will never know the pain that he has played through and endured the past 2 years because most only care about W's, but in the end, I hope a few do actually remember his contributions while he was here."

Damn crazy goings-on, if verified tomorrow. Kongbo's Twitter account profile appears to have been UT scrubbed as well.

Vols fans are just pure savage. You should see the comments on Kongbo's twitter post. Pure nastiness.

Tennesse is a dead power, and I love it.

They don't have top notch recruiting in state. They were caught cheating and had to back off. Fulmer was cheating his *** off, and it's the only reason they got by like they did through the 90's and 2,000's. He was the NCAA's snitch, and they let him escape while hammering other programs, like Bama. They can't compete, in the modern day, with recruiting hot beds like Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama.

Tennessee is now a second tier, South Carolina type program.

They will never be great, but fans expectations are through the roof. This guarantees they will have mad player and coach turnover until the younger generations accept the reality. They are just an average SEC program.

Eat your heart out Volwequeers.

Tennessee actually has expectations.

They don't believe 6 win seasons is success. They don't believe 7 win season is success.

All of my UT friends want Butch fired, today.

It's not just some of us UK fans that expect results, this is all over the SEC.
This post would make more sense if UK were last in the SECE. So get that negative BS outta here.

One could argue that all the coaching changes at UT since Fulmer has actually hurt their program.

Most of team is disappointed Butch lied about his involvement with the bullying of the player who transferred to UTC, he ordered the code red and lied and said he did not do it even though the kid had phone records etc, Dave Hart telling people I am not going to settle and that these people aren't going to bully us, oops guess what. They settled. Talked tough. Players knew he lied, the players were kicked off team because they were charged criminally, most years they were covered up and tipped off. I know some lawyers here in Nashville that laughed at Dave Hart and said they would not let this go to court, subpoena phone records, witnesses, Butch Jones and Dave Hart would have been fired, UT Police would have been fired, liasons between police and Univ. UT pres. would have been fired. It would have been a nightmare in terms of public relations when it came to criminal element that was covered up. The Pat Summit information would have been embarrassing if it came out.
Players knew he lied about his involvement and so this rubs players wrong way when things go wrong or you know the real truth. IMO

I hear what you're saying but some of us believe 6 wins is enough THIS YEAR. Those two key words are what some people fail to grasp. I will then think 7 wins is a success after one maybe two 6 win seasons. It's called being rationale.

Actually, losing fulmer hurt their program. He was the snitch of the south and was allowed to cheat to keep up. I have family that played at UT. If people only knew what was going on in that program when he was turning in others. UT has not been the same since the NCAA looked the other way for Fulmer. It's not the coaching changes that have hurt them, it's the fact that they no longer have the cover and are now what they are. A recruit-less land locked state that is just an average program.

The SEC E is horrible. Call me when we are beating terams with at least a decent .500 record.

As long as our fans don't allow 6 wins to be a measuring stick for the future, I'm fine with it this season. After that, we should expect 8 win season with a shot at 9 after a bowl win. Anything less and we arent expecting what our recourses are providing.

Its funny I went to one of their other forums and the fans are denying anyone has quit. In fact they plan on winning out because the rest of their schedule is filled with easy wins and bottom feeders. Which has apparently sparked more debate amongst their fans if a 3 loss championship is even worth it with some wishing they'd lose out just to get rid of Jones

If you look at their remaining schedule, they should win out.

Once again, you can only play the teams on your schedule. And fortunately, UK is 5-1 in the last 6. That's all you can do because no one is beating Bama this year.

USC, who beat UT, is 4-4; Vandy, who beat UGA, is 4-4.

Either way - I'm tired of arguing with u nellies about giving UK credit for winning against teams that we've begged them to beat for years. If UK gets to the top of the SECE, that's exactly what it takes.

As for UTs "expectations".....they are over inflated and that has caused them to bring in coach after coach since Fulmer (who they ran off). They are nowhere near what they were under Fulmer.....b/c of those idiotic expectations that can't be met.

It's like UGA....I'll bet they are wishing they still had Richt b/c Smart has not been impressive this far. It's another example of being unrealistic....running a good coach off and then getting a new coach that can't win games.

I'll take it, for now.

I don't expect the SEC to be a doormat conference for long. And our product will never produce as is, in a normal SEC. I'm not hating, it's just the truth.

UK is a good football team right now. Your refusal to acknowledge that makes me wonder why you waste your time on this board.

This is what it looks like. We win games against teams that used to beat us and pad their stats. When we move up the ladder, as we are, someone else has to fall down.

We've beat down USC teams for 3 straight years. Vandy? We should NEVER lose to Vandy. They are the true doormat of the conference. Our recent wins account for around 13 combined victories. I'm sorry, I'll take it, but I won't scream and shout about it. Stoops is not guaranteed anything yet.

Again, Fulmer was losing his grip, and his winning was a result of pure cheating. They ran him off because he wasn't really producing for all of the BS they were having to dodge by the NCAA. Tennessee had a shot at several bad *** coaches but they retained Fulmer way too long. He was a snitch, and unless he was producing in big ways, they weren't going to retain him. Tennessee is no longer a power name. Big time coaches don't want to go there. They have little in state recruiting and are land locked. It's an average SEC program. Losing Fulmer didnt hurt, changing coaches is not the problem, being who they are is the problem. They just arent used to it yet.

That is the reason winning these games builds momentum including in recruiting. I don't care if the the East is total trash if it somehow gets us to Atlanta. That in itself, would be huge for the program. Obviously the odds are still against at this juncture.
