Tennessee actually has expectations.

They don't believe 6 win seasons is success. They don't believe 7 win season is success.

All of my UT friends want Butch fired, today.

It's not just some of us UK fans that expect results, this is all over the SEC.

You know, even though UT has not beat the doors down on NCs, they do have a tradition of being a very successful football program with a stadium that has over 100,000 fans in attendance at most games. I've been watching or listening to SEC football for over 55 years and I maybe wrong but I understand why Bama and LSU, and even UT, doesn't put up with mediocre coaching and only 6 or 7 win seasons. They don't wish or dream of 8, 9, or 10 win seasons because they all have done it many times. We want tradition right now, immediately, but it ain't going to happen quickly. It's sad that years ago that the administration wasn't totally serious about the football program so that we could of have built some tradition but that's water under the bridge now. It left us at scratch, the very bottom of the ladder, to build this program and tradition but honestly I think Stoops has a great chance to make it happen, it just won't happen overnight.

This is a quote from a guy on volsnation that is somehow connected to the program, always knows the scoop.

"Jalen'sworked his tail off since he's been here, and it's time for him to move on. He's hurt, been hurt, playing hurt (even had an MRI today), and it's just time to go.

Butch made many promises to Jalen including running more of an I-formation (rememberwhat they did in the entire Outback Bowl last year) to convince him to stay, and then Butchnever ran it one time this year. Jalen knew hedidn't fit this system, and wanted to go find a better fit last year, but he believed what thestaff said to him so he stayed.

He's taken a beating, and wants to have a longcareer in the NFL one day. He will no longerplay RB and is considering a change to WR/TE. He is not going to the NFL right now nor does he want to. He's going to go to another offense and develop at the position first.

He spent time with about 20 of his closest teammates tonight at the team meeting and told them what he had decided. Most knew anyway. Pretty sure he broke down as this has been hard on him.

Most Vol fans will never know the pain that he has played through and endured the past 2 years because most only care about W's, but in the end, I hope a few do actually remember his contributions while he was here."
Hurd is a stud. I wish him the best where ever he lands. He has made the right decision to change positions. He has a chance to have a lot longer career at TE/WR in the NFL.

He should really rest a little longer to make sure he's fully recovered.

The more the temperature rises on the coaches seat, the faster key injured players make it back onto the field :)

Losing to Kentucky at home would be the ultimate disgrace to the UT Fan, and the rotten rope Jones is hanging by would be down to it's last couple of strands.

You got it straight. 6'4" is too tall for a RB, even at 240 lb.

It wouldn't surprise me if the team chemistry is really sour right now in orange country. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. UT fans calling for Butch's head. Hope it carries on through the defeat to the Wildcats.

The best thing UT football had going for it this season was Baylor football, and that is just a disgusting truth. UT paying their millions to the rape victims to get their own title IX lawsuit swept out of sight, and how the national media gave it and the related circumstances minimal attention is beyond belief. The timeline of Butch Jones' cell phone calls to players and with cops after the victim reported the crime, and the one virtuous UT football player who help her to medical care, only to get his *** beat by other UT football players for doing so, and be called a team traitor by Butch Jones for doing so. Just a wretched trail of ugliness not to be believed. Hazardous duty pay for Big Orange comfort women must be in the six figures. And then when they played Florida they had their best student athlete (a defensive back I think) change his number to that of a local high school football player who had recently been shot and killed in a drive by, caught in a stream of bullets while trying to protect high school girls. So the media paid attention to that, aided UT's shameless tactic of using a local tragedy to improve their tarnished image of being abusive to women. And that is their image. But thankfully for them the image in Waco is so much worse, and that is just about the only decent excuse they have for not firing Butch Jones already.

In reality, Jones has been in over his head from the moment he took over the head job at Cincinnati. Players quitting is bad, bad ju-ju

Unrelated but I hadn't realized Travis Henry had fathered 10 kids with 9 women.

That kid ain't no normal "freshman QB". SC will be a hard get starting maybe even next year. I laughed at the WM hire, now I'm worried ill be eating crow like the rest of the SEC.

We crown QBs quickly, before DCs get their chance to really evaluate. Time will tell.

Kid showed a hell of a lot of poise in the pocket and made some really good decisions when things broke down, and he has a really good arm for a high school SR. The kid has the intangibles that make a really good to great QB.

He looked good. So did Patrick Towles against the Gators in the Swamp in an 2 OT loss.

I'm not talking about completed passes, I'm talking about what he does when things break down. Patrick always had "happy" feet in the pocket even when he had time. This kid sits back there like he's done it on this level for years. I could be wrong, and he may be a bust, but I think he's the next big time QB in the SEC.

Get over yourself man! 6 wins this season is success after the way they started. 7 wins is great success and 8 is just unreal. No tam is going to go from 5 wins to an 11 win season. People that are happy with 6 wins this year are NOT satisfied with mediocrity. If it takes 9 and 10 win seasons to make you happy, then you have been one miserable dude then. Get in line and get your bowl tickets...

That is the reason winning these games builds momentum including in recruiting. I don't care if the the East is total trash if it somehow gets us to Atlanta. That in itself, would be huge for the program. Obviously the odds are still against at this juncture.
Fact is if we beat Georgia and Tennessee and Florida loses to Arkansas and LSU, we will win the SEC-East! Period! While that seems like a longshot, at is a real possibility, more now than ever before! Also, we are better than both Duke and Virginia and they took Louisville right down to the wire! It's a real possibility that we can beat Louisville!

If we were to win out and end up 9-3, it would be the most amazing UK season in my adult life , especially since we started out 0-2.

.500 seasons are not success. It doesn't matter how much makeup we put on it. No matter how many excuses we make. .500 is failure.

Stoops has a chance to go past that mark. We'll see if he accomplishes it.

We can be a great football program. But we won't get there jumping up and down crotch in hand over finishing .500. I don't GAF what year it is, or what we did last season. If we want to be a great program, we need to act like it. Good SEC programs are never satisfied with .500 seasons. Ever.

UK had won 7 games (+ bowl) many times. Even in recent memory. It's meaningless now.

We need to expect 9 wins. If we don't, we will forever be mediocre, and our pathetic AD will be thrilled.

I'm not sure what number you use to describe "many." But the facts are, in 60 years, we have had only 9 seasons where 7 or more wins happened including bowl games. 10 wins (1), 9 wins (2), 8 wins (2), 7 wins (4). There are not only not many 7 win seasons but very few 7+ win seasons in 60 years. So if you are going to use 7+ wins as the meter of success at this stage of the program, you will probably be disappointed. If we reach the bowl eligibility or better this season, I can see us upping the ante for 2017 and raising the stakes. But if we only manage one more win it will be a success for THIS season with the possibility of an additional bowl win.
