Yeah, pretty silly pick my friend. UT is basically an 8-4 type team again this year, but they got so lucky against UGA and App St. They will most likely win out other than another *** kicking to Alabama (IMO) and finish 11-3.

Unfortunately for UT fans, the divide between them and Alabama is frightening. I mean the thought that the best team in the East and a traditional power and rival that is that much better than you. Better players, better coaches. It must be very difficult to accept. I mean Alabama gave them the TD with a fumble inside 15, they could have scored at least 2 more TD's and a FG at the end of half. That could have been 65 points put up against the best team in East.
It is scary for rest of league but must be a kick in the gut to UT, Fla, LSU, Auburn and programs that feel like they compete with the Tide or are equal in terms of competing for players and tradition.
Wow.

I think Ole Miss has surpassed everyone as second best team in league and A&M is third. UT is not even close to Alabama.

That was really nasty and embarrassing for a fan base that is always running their mouths like IU basketball. UT had one fluke championship in 1998 and otherwise for the last 60 years have been all talk and no do.

Yup. They got every lucky break in 98 (kinda like this year early on), and to top it off FSU had a 3rd string guy at QB in the title game I believe.

Never have been sold on Tennessee. The national media and especially the media in the SEC want Tennessee to be back so badly that they push and push and push and prop them up every single offseason (much like they do Notre Dame) trying to make them relevant. They want the days of Peyton Manning to return so badly that they prop Tennessse up as national title contenders every year for the past two or three years. They're like the Kardashians--all hype with little substance to back it up. They're a good team, but elite SEC title contenders like the media in the SEC made them out to be? Not a chance in hell

They have a nice team, but they were minus I believe 6 starters on defense with injuries, and one DL kicked off the team, going against what is essentially an NFL team. No way you could have known that at the start of the season.

I still think UT wins the East but if their roster stays depleted like it is now who knows.

Given that A&M beat UT in overtime on their field...I'd argue the distance from UT, A&M, Ole Miss isn't much if any...but the distance between Alabama and #2 in SEC appears to be pretty large. IT is just unreal how Bama is re-loading under Saban year after year.

I don't know how large it is considering Ole Miss played pretty well against them, but there's a gap between the top two or three in the west and the best in the east

I despise UT as much as the next, but the number of starters and backups they have out gave them little shot to begin with. Pulled a RS off a tackle today because they had no bodies left

Wait now. UT has lost some guys to injuries but if you are recruiting top 10 classes than you should not use the injury excuse. I mean they could bring every one of those guys back and it would have been same result. They have Barnett on defense who is top 5 pick, Komara is electric, no loss of QB. I mean I knew the excuses were coming. UT is closer to Vanderbilt and UK than it is to Alabama, sorry but the divide is earth shattering for everyone else.

I think Florida could get there if their current coach turns out to be pretty good. Their recruiting is ridiculous. Same goes with Georgia IMO. Other than that, the SEC goes through Bama until Saban leaves.

Agree, UGA is the one that has underachieved for a lifetime minus 1980, they should be with Alabama. Not sure Kirby Smart is going to turn out great. All these coaches look good when they are hired away from Saban but most are not that good. I think Mac at Fla has the chance to do well because it's Fla. Ga, Fla, LSU should always do well. UT, Aub will be good but probably up and down depending on coaching an recruiting.

Alabama is just absolutely scary good today. They hung thirty five on UK and that is their lowest point total of the year.
With a true freshman quarterback
A true freshman offensive lineman.
Two sophomore running backs.

Wow.

No UT fan here, but they are a good team playing against the probable NC team.

Unfortunately, I know of one more sure win on their schedule.

Don't buy it, not at the level they've supposedly recruited the past few years. This was the game the pointed to for some time. Bama at home, UT sr QB vs Bama's true fr. Loaded roster of high level recruits. Run off at sr DL? Not a biggie, just plug in the #1 JUCO DT. UK was down 4 defensive starters and playing a 2* JUCO QB with no P5 offers and played them better at Bama than that mess. UT's a pretender, not a contender.

Couldn't have happened to a better fan base. I was at the game yesterday and they were talking their usual trash which turned into cursing their own coaching staff when the *** kicking started. I was sitting near where the Bama team entered the field and the true colors of the vol fans came out when there were water bottles and drinks thrown at the team when they went to the dressing room at halftime. Judging by the number of fans leaving as we did there probably wasn't many people left to throw things at the end of the game.

Bama is just on another level right now, saw Ohio State play last night, have seen Michigan and Clemson several times, not to mention Louisville, and those four are just not on the same level as Alabama.
Saban has talent and he and his coaching staff know what to do with it. Look how many coaches he loses to other jobs but he always seems to replace with another quality coach. I think we would be better if Stoops could identify coaches as well as he does players.

I live in Tennessee and can tell you they are fools gold nearly every time. They think every year is the year. The fan base is so delusional and as of now I haven't seen much UT gear in yards and so on as was there a few weeks ago. Tennessee fans are so typical.

Don't ever bet on the vols to produce much. They've fallen behind badly, lack top in state recruiting, don't have fulmer with his cheating ways anymore, and haven't had stability in their administration in over a decade.

On top of that, Butch is smoke and mirrors. He's a paper tiger. I love it though. He's got the fan base believing in him, he'll win just enough to keep the job (no one else wants it), and he will never accomplish anything great. UT is a dead power today. They're a good South Carolina program.

Think even the hard core UT fans would say the game yesterday was kick in the gut. I mean this is 4th year of recruiting top 5-10 classes, back loading years where they took 30+ recruits, signing Barnett, McKenzie, number 1 Juco DE last year. Major NFL type talent there and in secondary and Lber corps. Sr. QB, Komara has played his way into NFL draftee, high up, injuries are one thing but this was their year, accumulation of talent for 4 years, high end talent, they have a hail Mary to beat App. St. and a real Hail Mary to beat UGA. Very fortunate to only lose 2 games and end the year, this could have been an off the cliff type of season for Butch.
The alarming aspect was that they were man amongst boys yesterday. They could have had all of those players back and more and it would have not made any difference.
Scary if you are a UT fan, this was their year, this is year where all was going to be in the hunt. Wow

I've watched AM several times this year and they are a good team. Think they could make it much closer than you think and they are better than Ole Miss, Ark is better I know.

Tennessee now 5-2 after getting blown out by the tide but they could easily be 3-4. Got lucky as hell in the App State game,

Except that we have won 1 title, played for another and have also been to 2 other Final Four's under Calipari. What exactly has Butch Jones won in Knoxville? UK and Duke are the premier programs in college basketball right now. Tennessee isn't even a top 10 college football program at this point and hasn't been for over a decade.

Except, 4 final and a national title. Ya know, minus that.

UT is a former great. On level with south Carolinas program of the last decade. Butch is good enough to make you believe, and good enough to win enough to keep his job. But will never have UT beating the LSU's Florida, and Alabama on a consistent basis, if really ever.

As a Uk fan that lives and grew up in Tennessee, I love seeing your program die. More Alabama and Kentucky fans in middle and west Tennessee than UT fans anyway.

Tennessee football, former power, laughing stock for years to come. Coming up on 20 years since your last title, and what? 50 years before that? Hell, we both know you'll never probably see another in your lifetime. I don't think UT ever wins another before the globe ends.

Both of your major sports programs are jokes.

Well, we won the NC in 2012, and have been to four Final Fours in seven years. How many BCS bowls and CFB playoff games has UT been in since 2005? I'll hang up and listen...

Kind of like KY football, the Door Mat of the SEC we may not beat Mama but we can beat Vandy most every year. We have lost 2 games this year and how many has KY lost. Basketball, you get the top recruits every year, every year.

TracerVol brought up basketball then got owned with the fact we won a NC and multiple final fours in that time frame. Asked about his mighty Vols football program during the same stretch he ducks the question and brings up UK football. So what has UT done football wise? Don't deflect answer the question. You compared our BB to your FB. Man up dude.

It took Fulmer cheating and Kramer protecting him to get them to the title before you actually had to play for it. Very unlikely to happen again, and certainly won't with Butch as the HC. The best part - Vol fans, deep in their hearts, know it...
