I’ve watched many Illinois teams and several from Missouri, as well some showcase games.

No team I’ve seen matches Colquitte County, Georgia - unreal speed! Huge! Disiplined. They tore the hide of Trinity, who just barely lost to ESL.

CBC v Colquitte would be the match up of the two best I’ve seen this year

I hate that I missed watching that Trinity vs Colquitte Co game. CBC vs Colquitte would be a monster game!

The best I've "saw" in 2018?

C'mon.

Don't be so quick talking shots if this is your best.

Actually, that's quite funny! I was looking at the body copy and wondering what you had against present perfect, THEN I saw the headline.

D'oh! Headline writers are famous for typos ...

Nails on a chalkboard...

Either,
“The best I saw” or “the best I’ve seen”.

Come on Crusader, you’re better than that!

Here is the best that I saw this year:

1. Jack Olsen from WWS kick 8 fgs against Metea to set a state record

2. Quinn Urhweiler (sp?) from Batavia steam roll WWS for 4 TDs, the kid is bull playing RB and should be in the running for player of the year next year.

3. WWS Jack Kelly & WN Xander Mueller, Kelly had 10 tackles playing DT and Mueller had even more at MLB. Both were amazing in that game, Mueller will clearly be a big time recruit next year.

I'm guilty of pointing out homonyms hiccups.

I try not to bust on "grammar" - not everyone had to diagram as many sentences as I did in my English classes.

(My poor children ... they've grown into fine writers, but I've used the term "word vomit" more than once when reviewing their papers. One was just published and I complimented her. She said that many of her peers were surprised she was a Math major based on her writing. At that point, I could not resist pointing out that she ended one sentence with a preposition. "I EFFING knew you'd see that!")

Aside from the worst of grammar you’ve seen in a headline, tell me, @MC63 , what was the best thing you saw this year - something along the lines of that kicker mentioned above for his heroics.

Not yanking your chain - I am genuinely interested in what impressed you most on the field of play this season.

I don't want to talk any chances, so I'll mention two particular games: the road win over LA, and the come from behind in the final moments win at Lake Zurich

Best team I saw play was LWE. Team that surprised me the most was WWS.

Now here’s the obviously biased, totally subjective and shamelessly selfish part.

The best thing I watched was my 5’6 172 pound youngest kid get to play both ways his senior year. Yeah he’s a pretty small guy for football. I’m 5’11 so I blame his mom’s side. The kid barely ever came off the field and he was completely exhausted and painfully sore after every game. I’ve always known he was a decent running back but when he told me he was gonna play OLB too, I told him that would last maybe one full game and he proved me wrong. He won’t be playing any football in college and he didn’t get any big offers outside of some small D3 schools and I get it that he’s not a D1 type recruit but man I am so freaking proud of how he finished his football career.

Not sure if that link will work and I’m know I’m being like “that guy” who’s bragging on his kid so I apologize in advance for boring some of you but I guess I have no shame.

I loved watching his film. Love the way he runs with reckless abandoned, but honestly the sack at I think play 3 and the hit with about 1:10 left playing LB was absolutely fantastic! Enjoy your time with the kids it goes far too fast!

Very cool - you should be proud - outstanding play! I would be curious as to your conversation with him and his thoughts after the LWE game - I mean that in all sincerity and not to rub it in - I thought SCE played well and gutsy and just ran into a LWE team that had it all going on that day

Absolutely correct. He just said that he thought the played as well as they could and they were simply outclassed on both sides of the ball. I asked him if he felt that SCE would have made it a game if they had their starting QB instead of the backup and he just said "not by much".

thanks for sharing - win or lose, I always like reading/hearing the opponent's perspective - so I of course I googled the local Edwardsville newspaper for their take on the Quarter Final game.
Best of luck to your son and congrats on a great season!

Hows his grades?
I like him a lot and would like to pass his tape along to some coaches

His grades are good but I think he's content to let football go now and just be a normal college kid who can stay out late, sleep in and not have football running his life for 4 years. Thanks for the compliment though.

@ClownBaby would appreciate that the run shown at about the 1:08 mark of that video against WWS had him telling me he couldn't believe he got caught. He's one of the faster kids on our team so whoever number 4 was on the Tigers could absolutely fly down the field. I wonder what his 40 time was.

I was nowhere near as good as your boy, but I had a few D3 schools interested. I passed on those. He will find he has SO MUCH TIME to study and do other funs things without sports, it will shock him.

Cedric Rowzee he was the fastest kid on WWS he placed 7th in state last year in 100m so he can run. No clue what his 40 is but it’s fast.
