Don't do that! I'm here to help! That helped just a little, Freddie. Keep talking me back from burning 50-years of Gamecock shirts.
Please don't be that way. This is some world class, reward worthy, next level turd polishing.
I know it does but I stick to my statement, how many teams could go into college station and play Texas A&M to a one point loss? How many teams could be spotted a 27 point lead and walk away with a 1 point loss.
Context matters.
A&M played what was BY FAR their worst half of football all season in the first half. Heisman candidate QB couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Kickers missing kicks. Wide open receivers dropping TD passes.I know it does but I stick to my statement, how many teams could go into college station and play Texas A&M to a one point loss?
Sorry, trying to paint this as a "win" isn't going to work.I know it does but I stick to my statement, how many teams could go into college station and play Texas A&M to a one point loss?
I'm not trying to paint this as a win! I'm simply saying not many teams could have went into College Station and played the Aggies close.Sorry, trying to paint this as a "win" isn't going to work.
Freddie, I don't think you watched the game. It's one thing to lose by 1 point in a back and forth game you were supposed to lose by 20.one point loss? Many none, but two at best.
Beamer obviously has to try to spin positives out of the game. His career depends on it. Everyone else gets to be realistic.Freddie, I don't think you watched the game. It's one thing to lose by 1 point in a back and forth game you were supposed to lose by 20.
This game was not that. We absolutely handed them their a$$es in the first half. Then our coach hyped their crowd by being smug about the lead and taunting them on his way to the lockerroom. He goaded them into kicking his a$$ in the 2nd half and they delivered.
On paper it doesn't look bad. In fact I was thinking that, if I hadn't watched the game, I would have been like, "Damn! We showed up and almost beat them!" But I actually watched the game and saw Beamer get absolutely embarrassed as a coach and a human. Unfortunately, his players also got embarrassed.
College football is insane. Most P4 teams could pull this off.one point loss? Many none, but two at best.
Yes, it was pointed out that A&M has played a very light SEC schedule this year.College football is insane. Most P4 teams could pull this off.

Most daring such endeavor I've ever seen, I can say without hesitancy. This is some world class, reward worthy, next level turd polishing.
Someone here called it. Can't remember the poster, but they said they could see A&M overlooking us and us playing them close for the first half, then them coming out and blowing us out in the 2nd half. It turned out to be even worse than that, but that's fairly accurate. Here's the deal: A&M was looking ahead to some big mountains ahead. They knew we weren't one of them, viewed us as a patsy, and played as if they prepared that way in the first half.
It happens. I just doesn't routinely happen to this extent since 286 such SEC games over many decades had passed since it last happened.
Correct. Only the proportion was a little off. He was thinking random rip-current. Instead, we ran into a tsunami spawned by a magnitude 9 earthquake.Someone here called it. We did - in the second and decisive half.It sure looks like most posters would have rather just gotten blown out Freddie!
Like I said, still wasn't a blow out!We did - in the second and decisive half.
OK, then, it was a blow-up - a mere catastrophe.Like I said, still wasn't a blow out!
And yet life goes on, with another game coming up this weekend but please; let’s belabor the point. It helps with our embarrassment etc.OK, then, it was a blow-up - a mere catastrophe.

But, to belabor the point, getting beat by 50-60 and never being in the game would have been much worse!A loss is a loss, no matter how you look at it.

They are both unacceptably awful in different ways. But, to belabor the point, getting beat by 50-60 and never being in the game would have been much worse!
I'm happy to belabor the point for less that a week thus far. It works no hardship on me.And yet life goes on, with another game coming up this weekend but please; let’s belabor the point. It helps with our embarrassment etc.
Put 2 of those second halfs together and you can get pretty extreme!Well, that's too extreme an example to prove your point. It's exceedingly rare to have a 50-60 point margins of victory in conference play. Don't know if that's happened in recent history (someone else probably does though). If it has, it's extremely rare. Talk about games not including Vandy, and it gets even more rare.
