Who?Give him a $1 million to be AD and then let's demand a plan.

Kingebeneezer. You want him to perform perhaps the most important duties of a very highly paid Athletic Director who is supposed to have those unique skills that warrant that salary.Who?
Agree with everything you said, including your apology to PrimeMF. I'm kind of feeling the same way. One thing I would add- it's not just the USC game that is an absolute must win. NMSU is also in that category. It's nowhere as tough as So.Miss, but it's not quite Charlotte, either. We're favored by 19- if it was truly a lock, it would be at least 25. We're not above losing, and if we do, it's over.Prime,
I've had my differences with you in the past, and I have made some not-so-flattering posts about you and directed to you in the past. For that, I'm sorry. I don't expect this to be the start of some sort of bromance between us, but I will start paying attention to your posts instead of ignoring them.
The scales have fallen off my eyes these past two weeks, and it's clear the FB program is not progressing. As I stated on another thread earlier today, I still support the program and players that care about winning, such as Jordan Jones. At the beginning, I thought Stoops was a solid if not spectacular hire. The recruiting and marketing hype under Stoops was far beyond what Joker could ever hope to accomplish, but that will only take you so far.
For the good of the program I've wanted Stoops to succeed, but the window for him to turn things around is closing fast. The USC game on 9/24 is for all practical purposes a must-win to restore even the slightest semblance of hope that things will get better under Stoops.
Those are "successes" that are necessary for a guy like MB to keep his job. That's part of what an AD does, and MB has done those things well."UK makes a ton of money as an athletic program.
UK's student athletes get good grades.
UK has many sports that are succeeding.
UK has not had a scandal while MB has been in charge."
Are these OUTSTANDING successes or are they what any half-competent AD might have done?
Posts like these make me think of Obama's trumpeting the killing of UBL, as though any president wouldn't have done it.
There is not one ounce of justification for the $12 million buyout. Fireable offense? Head scratcher? I'm going with Gross Negligence!
Mitch has signed an extension past 2020.You've seen it on this board:
"You're not a real fan if you don't support the team"
"You don't know football"
"You're a troll who's happy UK is losing"
Folks, these are NOT your friends. These are people who are trying to gaslight you into supporting an administration run by Barney that DOES NOT CARE ABOUT FOOTBALL. Barney had to be forced into facilities upgrades YEARS LATER, instead of keeping his promise to Brooks, and because of it we lost Papa Brooks, the best coach we've had in decades. He retired out of frustration. Barney subsequently hired two failures in Joker and Stoops.
Any time you see someone posting on this board accusing someone else of being a disloyal or fake fan, remember that they do not support the TEAM, they support BARNEY. There's a big difference.
Those trying to shame-bully and gaslight fans who are unhappy with the product on the field are doing MORE DAMAGE to this program than Stoops. The only way real, lasting reform can happen is to hold an administration accountable for its decisions.
Barney has wasted millions on bad coaches. He's insulted the fans. He's passed on successful coaches who may have had problems in the past, while hiring others like Calipari who, outside the Bluegrass, has a perception of being shady. That's a double standard.
Do NOT let these sycophants gaslight you. The best way you can support the program is to call for Barney's removal. And call out these people for their lies.
Sadly, I think they want slow-cooker fans. What takes a few minutes in a microwave, takes a few hours in the conventional oven takes a all day in a slow-cooker.The joke sailed over your head. Mitch and his supporters call UK fans "microwave fans." The opposite of a microwave is a conventional oven. They want you to be patient, just like a conventional oven takes a long time compared to a microwave.
Those are "successes" that are necessary for a guy like MB to keep his job. That's part of what an AD does, and MB has done those things well.
Don't forget when Mitch was hired - he was hired in part due to ADs at UK regularly running roughshod over the rules of the NCAA. (Or turning a blind eye while rules were being broken).
You specialize in making your responses personal attacks instead of addressing the merits of the argument.Well seeing as how you are the ONLY person I have ever heard use both terms like most people use and, but, then...I mean 9/10 of your post use both terms. I think it's awesome that you look up words in a dictionary and see how many times you can use them in a month. Just let us know what words your gonna pick for next month that way we can all know what the hell you're trying to say.
sycophant, and gaslighting to describe UK football and it's fan base...:joy:
You seriously need to get a grip.
You specialize in making your responses personal attacks instead of addressing the merits of the argument.
Speaking of needing to get a grip.
MB has had his fun. Time for him to go run a christian based non-profit and let a man take over.
If you are insinuating that a follower of Jesus cannot also be a real man then you are terribly off base, sir.
But Cal is our coach and the BCG hire is moot. That issue is in the rear view mirror. If you and others aren't over it, then it's a personal issue that you and others have. Those are things expected for any AD. They go right along with "show up to work on time" and "give an honest's days effort".
The real things that separate the men from the boys are fundraising and how successful your programs are - with focus on your cash cows. MB has failed miserably in 2 out of the 3 categories, hired the "Billy Clyde Experiment" before being forced to hire Cal and is not even Cal's direct boss now.

Mitch has been a great fundraiser.
No one likes to hear it, but other sporting teams (who put in as much hard work as everyone else year around) have been vastly improved under MB. There are other athletes besides FB and Men's BB.
And don't forget - Mitch was the AD who hired Brooks who was responsible for 4 straight bowls, and Mitch was the AD when Morris took us to 7-5. So as I mentioned in this thread earlier, MB has been the AD for 5 winning seasons of football. That's more than just about any other AD in UK history. It's just a fact.
Sure, things are bad at the moment, but most everyone thought Stoops was a good hire for UK.
Let's be real - there aren't many FB coaches who do well at UK. For whatever reason.
IT WAS MID-SEASON so there was no chance he could be hired away. it was too early. stoo
i'm sorry sir, you can't count the Morris season in Barnharts totals - he fired the guy for crying out loud. FYI, that season was a bad Saban Hail Mary from being the best SEC record barney ever would see under his watchBut Cal is our coach and the BCG hire is moot. That issue is in the rear view mirror. If you and others aren't over it, then it's a personal issue that you and others have.

I can absolutely count that and I'm going to. Mitch was IN FACT the AD when Morris was the coach when we went 7-5. That's a fact you cannot dispute.i'm sorry sir, you can't count the Morris season in Barnharts totals - he fired the guy for crying out loud. FYI, that season was a bad Saban Hail Mary from being the best SEC record barney ever would see under his watch
lets think about that for a second. what did Morris get at Baylor....$1m/yr? Mitch wouldn't pay that to a guy who just went 7-5. But he increased and extended a $4mil+/yr contract (now a $12mil buyout) to a guy that had won at that time 9 games in 2.5 seasons. staggering.I can absolutely count that and I'm going to. Mitch was IN FACT the AD when Morris was the coach when we went 7-5. That's a fact you cannot dispute.
Mitch did not fire Morris. Morris wanted more money than Mitch was willing to give. Morris went to Baylor..got paid a bunch of money he wasn't deserving of, and stunk things up at Baylor.
Observation: It's hilarious that people blame Mitch for running Morris off due to not opening up the pocket books - the irony in that is amazing.
First, understand that I am not supporting Mitch Barnhart! On KSR MJ said that Barney has signed a contract extension thru 2022, so in other words he isn't going anywhere. He has won AD of the year recently and was appointed to sit on NCAA basketball selection committee. Whether you support him or not, he isn't going anywhere. You will be better served to fight the battle to replace coach than the AD. Take this anyway you like, just relaying the messageYou've seen it on this board:
"You're not a real fan if you don't support the team"
"You don't know football"
"You're a troll who's happy UK is losing"

Sad but true. No game is a sure win for us right now. I think we will beat NMSU, but if there is a team that could lose this game it would be us.Agree with everything you said, including your apology to PrimeMF. I'm kind of feeling the same way. You conveniently dismiss evidence that contradicts your premise, such as the Cal and BCG hires, and twist evidence to suit your premise, such as the 4 straight bowls as though that's some sort of accomplishment, considering we never even went 4-4 in conference in those years. Brooks was able to schedule wins, and now that he's gone, we can't even do that thanks to Barney a) chasing off Brooks and b) hiring losers like Joker and Stoops. But Cal is our coach and the BCG hire is moot. That issue is in the rear view mirror. If you and others aren't over it, then it's a personal issue that you and others have.

Yes, and your best effort has been an objection on the basis of semantics.I've done both, as well as you...seems we are both able to multi-task. NEXT!
Yes, and your best effort has been an objection on the basis of semantics.
You're a bore.
As much as you've been bleating in this thread, it's obvious my argument struck the mark.Well at least you didn't use your words of the month this time...we all thank you for that. You call it semantics, normal people call it basic reasoning and common sense.
Go grab the dictionary and wow us with some new words.
As much as you've been bleating in this thread, it's obvious my argument struck the mark.
I meant what I said. But yes, keep posting. I'm enjoying your anger. Your obsession with me is noted.struck the mark...pretty sure you meant nerve. Maybe that should be your next word or phrase to over use. No, you haven't struck a nerve or mark as you like to call it. It's your psychotic rants and anger at others that keeps me posting. You place so much emphasis on the football program that it's kinda scary, very entertaining, but scary. You kinda remind me of the dad in Varsity Blues....let it go, bruh!
But losing football preceded Mitch Barnhart. There has to be something else besides blaming MB, especially since we saw winning football (I.e. - UK had a winning record) with Guy Morris' last year at UK and Brooks for the last 4 years of his tenure - during MB time as AD at UK.
I'm not sticking up for MB, I'm just saying there are bigger issues with UK football than 1 guy, who has more winning seasons of football under his tenure as AD than just about any other AD. That's not a debatable point....it's a fact.
I meant what I said. But yes, keep posting. I'm enjoying your anger. Your obsession with me is noted.
It's easy to throw words around like "ignorance" but they are meaningless when you aren't able to back them up with any reason or facts.Obsession, might want to look that one up to, and use it more.
Hit the mark is what would have worked, but carry on.
It's not you, it's your ignorance that's so much fun.
I see that you are too obtuse to understand what was so clearly stated. Not surprised. I won't even give you credit for doing it deliberately. You really are that obtuse.reason or facts...see thread title. Original post...see thread title.
Not off topic at all, I have answered each every question, statement directly.
You literally blame the state of the program on who? The fans...what was that about chattering monkeys?
They never poured money into the football program like Mitch has. That's exactly right. That's because we only had basketball A.D'S before ! And they didn't care about building a football program ! It's been only about basketball !!!!!!!!!!!!!! They never pour money into the football program .
I see that you are too obtuse to understand what was so clearly stated. Not surprised. I won't even give you credit for doing it deliberately. You really are that obtuse.

.
And the results are just as ****** as they were prior to him running the athletic department. Actually, facing our 7th straight losing season puts Mitch in rarified air of football incompetence. They never poured money into the football program like Mitch has. That's exactly right.
That's my point. UK football was bad before Mitch. And the results are just as ****** as they were prior to him running the athletic department. Actually, facing our 7th straight losing season puts Mitch in rarified air of football incompetence.
And he's not improved it one bit. That's my point. UK football was bad before Mitch.
And he's not improved it one bit.
When you take over something that is terrible and can't improve it whatsoever, you deserve to be lumped together with the incompetence that preceded your arrival.
2 of his 3 football hires have never experienced a winning season. That actually is breaking new ground for UK football incompetence.
"You suck" is not a take. This is a stupid-assed thread to begin with, but I have to give it credit for one thing.....this conversation has included some very smart people with very advanced vocabulary. I've learned some new "big" words to toss around now !!
Man, you must be easy to please or a bit beaten down. His normal behavior is all over this thread. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.Prime,
