I can absolutely count that and I'm going to. Mitch was IN FACT the AD when Morris was the coach when we went 7-5. That's a fact you cannot dispute.

Mitch did not fire Morris. Morris wanted more money than Mitch was willing to give. Morris went to Baylor..got paid a bunch of money he wasn't deserving of, and stunk things up at Baylor.

Observation: It's hilarious that people blame Mitch for running Morris off due to not opening up the pocket books - the irony in that is amazing.

You've lost all credibility with this post...

And he's not improved it one bit.

When you take over something that is terrible and can't improve it whatsoever, you deserve to be lumped together with the incompetence that preceded your arrival.

2 of his 3 football hires have never experienced a winning season. That actually is breaking new ground for UK football incompetence.
Wait, what?

Stadium upgrades isn't an improvement?

Practice facility isn't an improvement?

The hiring of Rich Brooks didn't have the program improved, for at least 4 seasons and the first one after he left?

These are just facts that the anti-Mb continue to ignore.

He's talking about the product on the field. You know you've got nothing when you are reaching for facility upgrades to show Mitch has done his job in relation to FB.

you can't give much credit for upgrade when you don't do squat for a decade and you lose the only halfway decent coach you've had in awhile because of facilities neglect. cause a fan revolt, and THEN start spending money. at that point you're not improving, you're catching up.

The product on the field has been bad for 50 years. MB was supposed to be the savior?

I don't think you'll find many boosters who agree.

That was my point to TNTUK. He's raised some funds but is far from the dynamite fundraiser you need at a place like UK. I hate to keep going to this this, as it pains me, but look no further than 70 miles east to see what a real AD has done. Not only with on field/court results but with building facilities and raising money. They went from playing FB on shag carpet in an aluminum minor league baseball stadium to now having a state of the art football complex that is not only much nicer than ours, but will soon be larger. All while using little state money - mostly donations (now that's fundraising).

Hoghead also leveraged a new basketball arena, to be paid for by the state, that is also 5 times better than Rupp and he not only pays little to no rent but gets 90% of the revenue (not profits, revenue). All while using a supposed UK money man to broker the deal (Jim Host).

He's even done the Barney stuff, while making sure the money sports are top notch. He's renovated the baseball stadium and built really nice Olympic sport venues, etc. primarily through fundraising and partnerships with local KY businesses.

Barney is out of his league. He'd probably be okay running EKU's athletic department, as he is great hiring whiffle ball coaches and could put together a mean dodge ball team. But he's nowhere close to the AD UK needs to flip the script and become relevant in FB.

Yes. He was sold to us as a "FB AD" when he was hired and his main objective was to fix FB while not screwing up basketball. He's failed miserably at the former.

I trust the scoreboard more than I trust those who continue to pimp MB as a great football AD.

UK sucks at football at the same rate or worse than what they were 15 years ago. Lee Todd hired him to "clean up the mess" following the Mumme/Bassett mess which is what I'll give him credit for having done.

However, the scoreboard is the truth. UK sucks at football under MB.

I am glad that UK finally got around to the facility upgrades that Brooks asked for a decade ago. But whiffing on 2 of his 3 head coaching hires is at his feet.

It's telling when the Barney apologists' only measurements for success are buildings and jobs for the friends of Barney, instead of actual wins.

PrimeMF,
I would like for you to state, in writing here, exactly what it is you want and what you expect out of the football program. Will you make your voice be heard to the appropriate power brokers at UK athletics?

But we sucked long before Mitch Barnhart and I would argue that the Brook's era was one of the better in UK's history. Furthermore, I'm not sure you can say he hired this guy and that guy but the good one he doesn't get any credit for. Not really defending Barnhart but he's not the soul reason for 60 plus years of football problems

Again with this. Mitch Barnhart is the AD of Kentucky today, he's regressed the football program under hit watch, and has had more financial recourses by miles to change it. We've had AD's that were handcuffed financially, Mitch has had the opposite problems, namely just himself. Until his apologist accept this and quit hanging on "past AD's" and what they weren't able to do because of circumstances out of their control, you'll never see the truth.

I expect the UK football program to seek true success that is measured by wins and losses. Not to hire unproven coaches on the cheap and then panic by throwing obscene amounts of money at them halfway through their second season in an attempt to keep them here, only to tie UK's financial hands for the following five years.

Hire an AD who puts football first and understands how to evaluate coaches. Then negotiate a contract with those coaches without bending over and saying "Thank you Sir, may I have another!"

Stop insulting the fans whenever they justifiably complain that you have not only put a ****** product on the field, but have spent obscene amounts of money to do so.

I won't lie, I went overboard after the loss to Dawson and Southern Miss. Swore I wouldn't watch another game this year. But, the masochistic UK football fan in me made me tune back in. Glad I didn't start ranting here. What an *** I'd look like.

Probably so, but you would have come back and took it like a man, instead of hiding like a coward, right?

Of course. Especially since it's finally looking like Stoops was a good hire by "Barney". This is like the same thing that happened with Brooks.

Not a huge fan of Barney and wouldn't mind seeing the dude replaced, but yeah I agree with the Brooks/Stoops comparison. Good thing is, Stoops is just getting started where as Brooks was at the very end of his career.
