Hopefully if 5A comes in NC, that's still a big if. It will bring more parity between conferences.
That's the problem in trying to dismantle the Tarboro machine. Their defense is the bread and butter, heart and soul of the team.
Could you see BK starting up that Early College to make sure Robbinsville stays right under that mark? lol
Absolutely! So many of Tarboro's points are directly related to a defense that produces turnovers and short fields on offense. Everyone looks at Tarboro and notices the offensive stats, the ancient, run heavy, hide-and-seek style offense that produces multiple 1000 yard backs year after year. In order to lean on such an unbalanced, predictable offensive scheme, you also have to have the smothering defense than puts the ball right back in the offense's hands.
I agree! Tarboro defense has been strong for years now & gets overlooked b/c of the points the offense puts up!

If it is an alignment year then you would play 2A for 4 years. Or if not an alignment year you could play 1A.
I don’t know about the rest of the faithful but I kind of feel like we’re stealing

That game wasn't "stolen" as you call it. It was earned through hard work by the players and coaches. I also watched the game at Mitchell which was also earned. Fact is, Murphy, Mitchell, or Robbinsville would have laid that kind of loss on Pamlico.
Right now Mitchell is the team to beat in small 1A. They bring back more than Murphy or Robbinsville and were better than Robbinsville last year anyway. Seniors mean a lot and Mitchell will have a lot of good ones.
Having a young team Murphy will get better throughout the year and might have something to say about it come playoff time IF they stay relatively healthy.

I’m not disparaging our players they work harder than most schools that’s why we win, but come on man.
On paper, yeah. But Mitchell was the team to beat in 17 too... There is a mental block in regards to Murphy, the kids are just gonna have to get over that hump. Bout had it last year lol!

Not sure why I am brought into this. My glasses are not shaded with any school colors. Just a old man that enjoys small town wrestling and football.
Sometimes people have no answers. They would rather just ignore the questions, by whatever means they can.
He is welcome to think whatever. I hope I don’t come across as some troll. I try to contribute meaningful content on things I see. I have not got 20 years of SMC history but have watched a few years. I will always try to add a few comments on wrestling when I can stick them in lol. Which in my opinion is the best sport to teach young men some life lessons.

How's the wrestling program looking? You guys were winning titles just recently. Are you looking for another push for titles in wrestling with all the athletes coming through right now?
It looks that way, on paper they are loaded this coming year. How's your Knights going to look? You have several starters to replace.
Nope Swain will take the SMC title this season and we will have a shot at Avery for state trip. Robbinsville a close second in SMC. But way too early to talk wrestling.
Do you know how many times we've won the smc in the last 15 or 20 years? It would be foolish to count us out, ever.
Swain is loaded and Robbinsville lost a lot! It’s going to be a battle for sure. Much respect for Robbinsville wrestling program but I can’t see them winning Conference over Swain this next wrestling season. But now it’s football season.
Avery will likely win the WHC in wrestling, but Mitchell could make a push for the title. It will be between those 2.
