Thoughts on another stellar night of Kentucky football

*Kentucky covered!!!!!

*First and foremost, I think it's important to acknowledge UK's six points. Though UK failed to score a touchdown, the two successful field goals means Kentucky beat their historical scoring average of games played in Tuscaloosa (less than 5 PPG). So hats off to Eddie Gran!

*I was impressed with how UK started the game. Not the score so much, but their attitude. They didn't appear to be intimidated in the least.

*A very competitive first half. Had someone told me UK's defense would allow just one 1st half touchdown, I would have laughed hysterically. Overall, though the defense allowed damn near 500 yards of total offense, they held Alabama to three offensive touchdowns. That's about as much as we could ask considering this is, according to douche bag Lee Corso, the worst defense in college football!

*Three plays from S. Johnson that really hurt. The ball to Conrad that was batted down deep in Tide territory. Then the fumble on that same possession. Then the fumble near midfield that 'Bama returned for a touchdown. Those three plays killed UK's incredibly slim chances of remaining competitive for 60 minutes. Overall, it's difficult to evaluate Johnson's overall performance. Alabama was all over the guy most of the time.

*I was surprised that UK waited so long to get Snell involved.

*Jordan Jones. I'm starting to love watching this guy play football!

*I guess Mark Stoops lamented being in 2nd and long in his halftime interview. Note to Coach Stoops...if you want to avoid 2nd and long, maybe don't run the football right at the Alabama d-front on virtually every 1st and 10.

Overall, honestly, tonight's game went a lot better than I expected. Maybe it was Alabama coming out flat. Maybe it was UK coming out motivated. Maybe it was a combination of the two, but UK did a very nice job in the first half. The game should have been 10-10 or no worse than 10-6 at the break. Oh well.

Good post! I must admit that UK has a perpencedy of being fairly predictable in certain situations. Running the ball up the middle on 1st & 10 is one of those predictable plays. But I was pleased to see overall improvement in the team. Next week will be telling.

The fact that I am not blasting our team for losing to ALABAMA at their place does not make me a bad fan. It is just reality. You do know Bama has won 17 straight games right? And you do know that they have blasted teams that are some of the best in the college gane right?

To not give this team credit for playing the way they did is ridiculous. They have gotten better every week the last 3, yet you keep trying to take away from what they have done. USCjr played a top 10 team to the wire. Yet the only reason we won was because they sucked.

All I am saying is give credit where it is due. This team could have showed up and went through the motions, but they didnt. Give them credit for doing better than most here thought they would.

They have to continue to improve for sure. But to think that 4 years after the mess joker left we should play bama a good game is ridiculous.

4 years in and UK has not progressed much at all at the LOS. Some promising players on this team but if Stoops makes it passed this year he desperately needs to get kids like Wills and other legit SEC lineman to come to UK.

That's what you took away from the game. This was a pre-season game for Bama or an exhibition. Let's see how this play works. Let's use this formation and see what kind of look we get. They were trying out new plays and schemes. They were not playing UK.

And he's right. This could have easily been 76-6. Under no circumstance did we play them close. Look at the stat sheet. The dominated us in every phase. They had what 1 punt then entire night? They almost tripled our total yards. This game was exactly as bad as we feared. Sure they chose not to score more points on us but let's not pretend that we out played them in any way.

Even with the defensive take aways, Bama scored less on us than any opponent they have played this year including USC. And we scored as many points as did USC. We did not play a good game on offense at all. In fact if the O could have made a few more first downs and not turned the ball over, it would have been a very decent showing. The O line couldn't protect or open many holes. We'll do much better against lesser opponents.
