The Juco RB makes sense. They have some good RBs, but I did not see much consistency or anything exceptional. Plus, recruiting a RB for a backfield with a QB that rushes for over 1,000 yards might be a difficult task. Seems Petrino is sold on his version of the spread option, as he keeps recruiting dual threat QBs. The RBs did not get many quality runs last year. If Jackson remains more viable of a threat on the ground, their RBs will continue to be more decoy than threat.

I realize that UofL is on the schedule, resides in Kentucky and has beaten our asses 5 years in a row but otherwise, why does it bother anyone how they recruit? Eventually, with the hard work going on in Lexington, UK will start owning them on the field. Isn't that what really matters?

Jackson didn't really know the offense all of last year. He was in the shotgun and improvised quite a bit. This year, he will be under center more, looking to pass more, and the running backs will be much more effective. The spring game was all about Jackson passing, and he looked very good. The offense is going to do lots of things that they were too young to do last season.

We will see. This preseason hype about what is about to come under BP's offense since returning is an annual event. Just has not yet been the fireworks display we have been promised each year. Without Strong's recruitment to the defense and Grantham's managing of that talent, Bobby would be on a hot seat right now. Maybe this year will be different.

Yeah, North Carolina has done very well scholastically for a long time also. I think UL was advertising a PERFECT APR for a while there, answer me this, how do you take all these players kicked out of other schools with all kinds of problems, including criminal, and turn them ALL into Rhodes Scholars? What a joke, but they seem to get away with it.

Just the fact that he chose UL should raise some flags IMO. Minardi Hall might be a recruiting plus at this time, UL threw this years team under the bus hoping it would make recruits think the consequences are all over.

Jauk, ul has changed all that, they moved it to another part of campus to a hall with imaginary professors like unc.

I know someone who says he went to parties with UK players when he was enrolled there and saw money change hands. I believe him about as much as I believe other internet claims of someone knowing someone who knows something. Claims mean nothing without proof.

There are rumors of hookers in your halls of the university but they are only rumors aren't they? Truth hurts doesn't it?

Grantham has done an excellent job with the defense. Petrino hasn't had the stability at the QB position to really put up above average offensive numbers. This is the year for everything to be come together IMO. To me this was really the 1st season I though any hype should be heading into the season.

We shall see. He was supposed to be a QB guru and Bonnafon and the kid from Lex were supposed to explode under his tutelage. Now we have QB #3 who is going to put up the numbers. We know Jackson has the legs. He came to UL that way. But, will he be the proper protege or will we have to now wait for Pass?

This season has to be a 9-3 season or anything less is a disappointment IMO. Bonnafon was a 3 Star ATH coming out of High School and only started at QB for one season. Bolin was a 3 star and 33 ranked Pro style QB. Towles was the #9 pro style QB, so I think Petrino has done a nice job with whose he had at QB considering who he's had to work with.

Do you realize that what happens at UK does not make Bobby better at his job?

UL fans touted how each of those you mentioned would breakout under the guru BP. Did not happen.

I don't know anyone who thought Bolin was going a great QB, which when your the 33 ranked QB I don't think many folks would expect a lot from a player ranked that low. Bonnfon is a great athlete and I could see ppl being bullish about his potential.

As for Towles I was just making a comparison of rankings and production. If Bolin had of been a top 10 QB I could see ppl having high expectations.

You don't read UL message boards? Let's not recreate history. UL fans said Bobby's offense would thrive under Bolin. And then, many said Bonnafon would be a stud under Petrino. Only when players do not pan out do fans say they were nothing. Typical.

Like the group of UK fans who said Towles would be a stud. I guess both fan bases have those type of fans. I'm not saying Bolin isn't anything, actually he's performed pretty much on par to his rating. Bonnafon will be used differently this season, and I believe he will have a productive year.

You have to consider the caliber of the QB, the caliber of the line and the caliber of the WRs. Its hard to turn a mediocre QB into a stud, especially one playing behind a mediocre/bad offensive line. Compound that with injuries to Gardner, Bolin, Bonnafon and Jackson and now not only do you have mediocre QBs playing behind bad lines but you don't even have consistency in the person taking the snaps.

Jackson as we've seen...seems to have "it" as far as leading and play making. He didn't look great as a passer last year but did show signs of improvement (completion % was low but did only throw 1 int in his last 5 starts) and for a true Freshman kid who had only been on campus a few months looked great 75% of the time he was in the game, I would say its a good sign for what we can hope to see once he gets more time and coaching and all reports seem to indicate that he's dedicated, learning and understands that he has Jawon Pass breathing down his neck should he slip up. I have no idea what these QBs will do under Petrino....especially spread offense style QBs...but we've got a history book full of stats that show what Petrino does when he has talented QBs, and right now he seems to have one talented QB on the field and one waiting in the wings.

Williams changed from his step fathers name to his mothers. Understandable. The weird one was Paul Harris, 4 star WR transfer from Tennessee. He changed his name to Alphonso Carter, and has moved to corner. I've never heard an explanation for that name change. It will be an interesting year at QB for Louisville. They will likely run sets with Jackson under center and Bonnefon in the backfield, where either could run or throw. They could even get to where Pass is under center, with both Jackson and Bonnefon in the backfield. Crazy stuff.

Maybe law enforcement's looking for Paul Harris but not Alphonso Carter. Just a thought.

I wouldn't expect them to waste a year of Pass' eligibility unless absolutely necessary especially with Reggie and Kyle on the roster as decent QBs. I do think the sets and the options Petrino will have will be interesting to watch though.
