The sophomores are getting the job done, and UK's defensive MVP would almost certainly come from their ranks at this point. Which do you think are the best? You get two votes.

Well for all the credit and praise he gets, Westry has NOT played that well this year, so take him off the list. IMO.

Sadly, Edwards is making an impact. A bad one. He's completely inept in coverage. He's been targeted and given up numerous touchdowns, including busting coverages against usm, Florida, and another game.

Against Bama, they targeted him too. At least he was in the vicinity this time. But was turning in circles and was in bad position.

Kids dynamite tackling. But lord he needs to clean up coverage.

Westry has been disappointing as noted.

Jones spectacular. Ware excellent. Baity really good.

My top 5 Soph
1Jones
2 Ware
3 Edwards
4 Allen
5 Baity
In this poll, everyone not named Jordan Jones is gunning for second place. IMO I would move Allen and Baity up one notch each and put Edwards at #5. I'm inclined to think someone else might deserve #5 on the list. Edwards still has good upside, but as BBI noted above, he really needs to work on his pass coverage.

I added Ware. I didn't think he's played exceptionally well outside of the Carolina game so didn't add him originally. Feel free to revote.

Jordan Jones is a flat stud. He will be a early draft pick with his speed and range. God wait until he puts on 15 more pounds. I like the future of this d. Add a couple more dlineman in this class watch out

I think Edwards is starting to come around and he comes up in Run support isnt afraid to stick his nose in their and Tackle he can lay some wood when he wants.. I figured by this time this year Westry would be on here. To his credit his side of field isnt targeted as much.

It looks like some people opted for vote for Jones and to decline to select anyone else. I can kind of understand that reasoning, but everyone of these other guys has a bright future, even if they're still somewhat green.

I agree that Jones is an early round pick, but he has to put on pounds, and maintain speed, to play middle linebacker in the NFL. If he can't, then he's probably looking at playing strong safety.

1 thing that sticks out to me in that list only 1 d tackle in Middleton. We need better talent there and brings the wuestion. Is Kengera playing agai st Vandy? We need depth there in a bad way?

He is a true soph playing at 220 also he plays wlb. By the time he graduates he will be 230 240. Nfl backers are smaller than they used to be. His weight is fine

Edwards 43 tackles, 2 for a loss, so he's put in some good work too. Obviously Jones is the man, followed by Edwards. Then I'll go with Allen, Ware, Love, in that order.

Edwards is a great tackler. But how can we excuse him being personally responsible for no less than 4 or 5 busted coverage tds?
Edwards had a brutal start vs. So Miss and UF but he's really come on the last 3 games. Very decisive and strong in run game. He may be still learning how to cover the pass game but as down on Edwards as I was early...I have to admit his talent is showing up. Really strong kid and isn't afraid to throw his body around. I like him back there for 2 more years after this year

People should be excited about this team... We only have 12 seniors this year. A VERY young team, especially on defense.

I like him too but he must get his coverage cleaned up. Anytime he's targeted it's a td. I'm pretty certain nmsu targeted him for two easy tds too.

Bama targeted him and had a big play. At least he was in the vicinity this time, but got spun around and way out of position. So that's improvement.

Actually being here in Cincinnati, I am familiar with Mike Edwards, as well as Coach Clinkscale, the DB coach. After talking it over with people in the know, Edwards hasn't been as responsible for as many bust as it looks. The free safety and the strong safety need to work in tandem and according to the announcer in the NMSU and the coach, Edwards is not getting a lot of help from his free safety. I also find it odd that if he was blowing as many assignments, as we on this board think he is, Stoops would have called him out for it. He did call out McWilson, stating that he needed to pickup his play and that he was hurting the back end. Guess who the free safety is?.

That being said I think Edwards still needs to quit being so nosey in the offensive backfield. The same quick instincts he is showing against the run, are the same things that has him out of position against the pass sometimes. The kid is still young and has only started 10 games here and has 2 1/2 years left still to play.

True, McWilson is the guy who has been a major disappointment. Don't forget Edwards should be pairing with West, he's been missed. See that Marcus Walker's healthy now. Maybe he can push past McWilson.

Players have to continue to grow to be good players. A lot of that depends on the coaches and his staff. Very few players coming out of high school are finished products. Some coaches, such as Bear Bryant could take his players and beat yours, or take your players and beat his. Saban appears to be one of those coaches, and as bad as I hate to say it, A-Hole Petrino is close to it.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

He reminds me a lot of Paul Warford from Brooks' days. Not a world beater in deep coverage but he was game for contact in run support. Hard hitting DB. Gimme a DB any day that loves contact.

I know you gave us two votes, but I only used one. in my highly sought after opinion, the conversations begins and ends with Jordan Jones. he seems to be involved in every other play somehow.

McWilson is right there told in busted coverage problems. But Edwards has the same problems. Even when he's not busting a coverage, he's pretty poor ball skills.

Great great tackler though. Could be a great player.
