NU returns to friendlier confines after a second half meltdown against USC under Friday Night Lights in L.A. The secondary was picked apart and the offense stalled after keeping pace with the Trojans in the first half. The Cats are running out of games to get a sixth win and become bowl eligible.

Michigan will not make that easy. While its passing game is not as dangerous as USC's, the balanced attack may be hard for NU to stop. On the offensive side, protecting the ball and maximizing NU's strength in the run game, punctuated with well-selected passing, would seem to be keys for NU to keep up.

My heart says:

Lloyd Abramson 24
Lloyd Carr 21

But my head says:

Gerald Ford 30
Austin Carr 21

Anyway, as a UM alum told me after the 54-51 game, NU has never really beaten UM. UM has just found ways to beat itself.

Here's hoping UM beats itself silly at Wrigley.
