Uniform's help recruiting -> Recruiting helps us win -> I back the uniforms...
1) Playing Oregon was going to help recruiting (though not a single player from Oregon signed with MSU after the Oregon series was completed).
2) Being on ESPN almost every Sat. was going to help recruiting (though, according to this board, the ESPN phenomenon has bombed. Mullen still can't recruit for ****).
3) One of my favorites was establishing a series with UAB was going to help MSU recruit the state of Alabama. (Okay, I'll give you that one. We've pulled some pretty good 2 star recruits from the state of Alabama since the series with UAB began).
4) Now uniforms are going to help with recruiting.

Except booing. Booing can destroy a program over night.

“The fans were amazing. It made me very excited to see the fans rally around the team the way that they did. I also loved the MSU uniforms. Man, I didn’t even know they had those uniforms. They looked so good. I would love to be able to wear it one day. That game made me want to be an MSU Bulldog for sure.”

One website has his top colleges. Out of nine schools, we aren't one of them. If it makes that much difference, it should put us over the top, right?

Wearing only maroon/white wouldn't have won those games for us just like wearing black doesn't lose them. Everyone wants better recruiting efforts but when the administration does something the recruits obviously notice, people want to ***** about it.

We looked absolutely horrible aGAINst LSU, Alabama and perinnial powerhouse La Tech wearing them. I have yet to see a recruit sign so he could wear it four times in his career. I'm for our players wearing them on NYD or in a BCS Bowl.

i was just pointing out how stupid is it to think that alternate uni's will help recruiting. I bet you cannot find another single coach in the entire country that says uniforms are going to help their recruiting. It wreaks of desparation.

**** in the black unis. Regardless if we play all world or all WAC. If the players were in fact motivated to play better wearing them, then I'm all for it. But I don't see it. So, where's the benefit?

how many games we've looked like **** over the past decade in maroon/white? This is done for the players's enjoyment. It isn't meant to be some magic cape that turns them into all-pro players. I really dont see what the problem with letting the players get some excitement out of the uniforms 1 or 2 times a year hurts. What does that hurt?

Our stadium, the length of our rivalries, our mascot, the great games and seasons in which we have competed, the players and the coaches, the loyal fans, our unequaled campus, our broadcast team over time one of the best around and longest standing, etc. and etc. Hate to quibble over a word, but I love our GREAT TRADITION.

That is the problem....change the uniform all you want - matt helmet, gloss helmet, white masks or gray masks, large "Mississippi State" or small one, state outline on the uniform or not, etc. Just don't add a bunch of colors that we are not. Flat maroon helmet is fine, silver helmet is not. White or maroon numbers are fine, gold are not. My problem is not uniform changes, it is making so many new colors as a part of the uniform that bothers me. I guess you know that silver is on the menu next year along with white helmets as well.

Does it hurt recruiting? Definitely not. Byrne has been quoted the night we wore the black jerseys against Alabama in 2009 that the black jerseys was what the recruits were talking about. They loved them.
And it fires up the players on the team for some reason. So I have no problem wearing whatever to get the team more fired up.

Nobody is going to make fun of these, and if they do, who gives a flying 17. If shaking up the uni's makes recruits happy, I'm all for it. I still think that there needs to be money tucked into those gold shoes as well, but at least we are trying something different.
