Nothing came up about that cheap shot, but it turns out that Rebel fans booed him on Senior Day last week. Not a popular guy anywhere, it seems.

CJ had a cheap shotthat I haven't seen anyone else say anything about either.

Tyler Russell was on the ground and dove on top of him hitting him helmet to helmet. Should've been a roughing call on that play.

deliberate attempt to take a knee out. The bears are all bent out of shape about fans with cowbells but not one word about that assault by one of their players.

I've been compelled to watch the highlights of our 1998 Egg Bowl win when we punched our ticket to the Georgia Dome as well as the OT win at Alabama in basketball to win the SECtitle on the road. What a game that was.

and he generally sucks at everything, but that looked like a legal hit to me.

As long as the blocker is blocking down field and not coming back up field to make a below the waist block, it's legal.

I don't even think it was a cheap shot, because the play was still live, and the defender was chasing the play. I think you're searching if you're wanting to call that a cheap shot. Blocks just like that are commonplace.

I put as much effort into that game as our players and coaches put into that game, so I wasn't watching. When I saw the title of the thread, I was expecting to see something pretty bad, like a post play punch, a late hit, or someone twisting a knee in the pile, something like that. That was just a football play from what I saw on that video.

There would have been many times in the past when something like that would have pissed me off, but it was pretty comical watching him. The enthusiasm that he showed when he did it to both sides of the stadium after a simple tackle for no gain told me that he had been saving that one for weeks. The little piece of **** probably couldn't sleep for 3 days and pissed in his pants from excitement of being able to show that one off.

I hate like hell that we lost out on Brassell, but I'm becoming happier by the day that CJ will never be in maroon and white.

that block was "legal" and "commonplace" and a "football play." That was a questionable cut block, well behind the play, on the last play of a long-decided game, obviously targeted at someone's knee. So 17 you and 17 Sowell.

reaching to say that wasn't a cheap shot. How about if every time we were trying to tackle Brunetti or Moncrief or Brassell, our players aimed their helmets to the outside part of their knee? You wouldn't be upset about that? You are pathetic.

He hit Cherrington from behind and you know it. Sowell's pads hit Cherrington's hamstrings and calves.

that was actually coming up field behind the player, and it got flagged, because it was illegal.

If that block looked illegal to me, I would say so. You see blocks like that on sweeps and roll outs ALL the time. Coaches teach that block. It's a football technique. If you know anything about football, which some of you clearly don't, you'd know that it's common to not only teach that block but see it used in the open field on sweeps to help guys get the corner.

Here is a link with a description on how to avoid the cut block.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoZJLTYoJok&feature=related]Link

The rule is, you can't cut a guy from behind, and you can't cut a guy that's engaged up high with another player already, but you can cut a guy one on one in the open field if you're doing it from the front.

Maybe I'm seeing the video wrong, but I've seen plenty of blocks like that before, and the play was still live, and the block was made play side while the defender was pursuing. I just don't see all the uproar. As I said, I hate Sowell, and I'd love to jump on the bandwagon that he did something ******, but I'm not seeing it so much with this one unless someone wants to point out something I'm missing.

that was the most effort Sowell gave all game. I do think he did it with the intent to hurt the guy and it was somewhat cheap.

2. Bradley Sowell's block on Dwayne Cherrington on the last
play of the game was technically a "legal" play. It was also very cheap.
</p>

The ball was going that direction, and for all Sowell and
Cherrington knew the quarterback could have cut back. The problem I
have, and what makes this a gutless move on Sowell's part, was going low
on Cherrington's knees. Cherrington was blind to Sowell anyway. If
Sowell had gone high, it would have been an easy block because
Cherrington was focused on Brunetti. Sowell knew what he was doing.
Here's hoping Cherrington is okay.

It was 10 yards behind the play on the last play of a blowout game, it was clearly a block from behind, and Sowell lunged10 feetto make the block. It was dirty as hell. I hope the bastard somehow makes an NFL training camp roster and blows his knee out the last practice before the first preseason game.

The easier block would be to just block him straight up if Sowell was so worried about the play. I still think it could have easily been called a clip, because the picture shows that his helmet is in the side, if not the back, of his knee.<div>
</div><div>That thing had intent behind it, and that is obvious... I don't care whether it was "legal" or not...</div>

though you're trying to determine intent based on the video. If the timing and score are the reason, then that's fine for your justification.

My point still stands though. If the score is 17-14, or that block happens in the 2nd quarter, there is nothing wrong with it.

You could make the argument that he was playing to the final whistle and not quitting, but you could make the argument that it was with dirty intent. Either way, it was legal and something you see quite a bit on plays to the outside like that.

Call it cheap I guess, but it was legal. His helmet got to the front side of the body. I watched it again to make sure.

If it happens under different circumstances, maybe you aren't in such an uproar.

The block that did get flagged on your guy earlier in the game was just as bad. Maybe it doesn't make you mad because it wasn't your guy, but it wasn't much different.

are not mutually exclusive.

Take the color off those uniforms and there's no way you could honestly tell us that a dude launching his helmet into the side of the knee of a player FAR behind a play in the last play of a long decided game isn't extremely dirty. Hell, on the play we got flagged for, at least the guy getting tackled saw it coming, was in distance to make a play, and wasn't hit in a particularly dangerous nature.

Dirty.

I had become pretty neutral in my ole miss hate since they became a simultaneous laughing stock and dumpster fire, but **** like this really puts things back in perspective. 17 you faggots, I hope oxford burns to ashes.

He should be charged with assault. If I had been Nutt he wouldn't have been allowed back on the team bus. A hit like that is the reason I hate Ohio State and Jim Tressel to this day. The guy that took THAT hit never played again, and he was going to be a good NFL player. Tressel wasn't going to do anything about it till the media raised the hue and cry. He suspended the thug for one game after being forced too by the Big Ten. NODODY defended the hit though, not even Tressel. You are a piece of trash for defending this one. .

If you dont think this isnt cheap or "behind" him you are an f'n retard. Funny #25 doesn't seem interested in blocking him, and he is in more of a "legal" position to do so. 17 you and the ***** that he is and the crap sandwich that is your program, fan base and school.

...it should be easy to realize that it wasn't even a low block. He hit him right at his waist. He didn't take his knees out. It wasn't a cheap shot.

That's a personal foul whether it's below the waist or not. And it was below the waist.
