Everyone is writing Southern Miss off as an "easy cupcake win" for the Cats this season. That game will be a struggle. Probably still be a win for the Cats…but it will by no means be an "easy win". Their talent level is just about on par with UK's, they have a really good experienced QB, they return their leading rusher, and this will be a "statement game" opportunity for their program. It wouldn't even surprise me all that much if we lost that game. And then major meltdown on this board would ensue.

And that is the season opener.

I've seen very few people write off Southern Miss as an easy win. Most people are aware that they're a solid team who can beat us if they play well.

Yeah, I don't read every thread in the Lair so you could be right. But in the threads I have read…the threads dealing with season predictions and the like…there are exactly two other people who have called that a "tough game". The rest have grouped Southern Miss in with the "cupcakes" or "assumed wins" and then go on to talk about the SEC schedule…which will be brutal as per usual.

Just saying that this season's "corner turning" crowd very easily could go off the rails in week 1. So prepare accordingly.

Southern Miss is a solid team with some good talent coming back. Fortunately for UK, they have Dawson as their OC. Can't wait to see the 'chuck it deep every play' game plan from the other sideline this year. See what the Southern Miss defense looks like in the second half after 5 or 6 straight three and outs and/or turnovers by their offense! Westry, Baity, and Edwards will have a field day :)

Anyone's opinion changed in the last month or so?

I'm starting to lean towards 2-2 in those games.

Assuming wins against Southern Miss, New Mexico State, and Austin Peay.

Assuming losses against Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Louisville.

That would put UK at 3-5.

Can Kentucky go 3-1 against South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and Missouri to reach 6-6 and bowl eligibilty?
4-0...also not losing to otis.

If we don't beat USC, Vandy, Miss St and Missouri this year, next is going to be tougher. I am hopeful we can win 3-4.

Go cats!

I'd like to say 3-1 but the safe bet for me is 2-2. I'm assuming we will lay a giant egg in one of these 4 games.

4-0 is what should happen. If 2-2 is the case you have to wonder if UK has the right staff in place to build a winner at UK.

If that happens time for Mitch to get that coaching replacement cheat sheet ready. 4 years of coaching this program for Stoops and laying a egg should not happen in games that you can win.

OP, if we don't beat UL this season, we will not go to a bowl AGAIN.

Everything is riding on the UL game again. That is my prediction.

There is no way we go 3-1 against those teams you mentioned.

This is funny most South Carolina fans are tossing Kentucky up as a high chance for a win. Should be a good game. I feel like both teams are under rated in the conference and can make so noise this year with some upset wins.

Neither team is underrated, both have much to prove in multiple areas.

If UK football is going to turn the corner then Southern Miss should be an automatic win, tough game or not.

Who was the last SEC bowl team they beat?

Let me see how we look against S.Miss. That being said, if the d-line is adequate then we should go 3-1 against those teams.

Missou, USC jr, and Vandy are likely W's and MSU is 50-50 IMHO. Bama and UT are very likely losses but I think we have a punchers chance if we win turnover battle by 2-3. Florida, Georgia, and UL are one score games where anything is possible. My guess 3-0 v Easies, 3-1 v YourQuestion, 0-2 v Biggies, and 1-2 with Possibles. That adds up to 7-5 and almost everyone coming back. Next year--- legitimate SEC East contenders.

I love your Normandy Beach attitude.

I still wonder why some folks even follow UK football. Just go follow somebody else if you're gonna be that miserable and hate on our team and coaches. Seriously.

If UK is sitting at 5 wins going into the UofL game that will be another loss. 4 year's and no Bowl games equal we have a over paid staff. Recruit but can't coach

Can UL run it against us? No. Our front 7 is over looked and will keep us in every game this season.

I wouldn't trade them for anything. Look out Vandy I hear Mark will run up the score on you for some reason.

Full on potato. You wouldn't trade your front 7 for Alabama's or LSU's? You have the worst front 7 in the SEC with the worst depth behind them, and you don't want to trade them?

Why does Mark Stoops want to run the score up on Vandy? Because his coaches and players were too stupid to cover a WR that snuck outside the numbers legally and hid before catching a TD pass? Or because of the pick 6 that Barker threw? Or the fumble that gave VU an easy TD early in the game?

You joined the forum 10 years ago and have 4 posts total, yet this is one of the times you felt you had to post a reply in the thread? Wow.
