There is a ton of work to be done, but you have to take the first step to walk a mile and this will be a HUGE first step in the right direction. I hope that many past supporters will be energized and support the new coach and the young men of our community.

Rumor is it's Mike Biggerstaff, he has to be at least 70??? Maybe they're hoping he'll bring excitement like Mack Brown has to UNC.

Seems likely this was the only choice? Biggs only going to be as good as his assistants, and one would assume they are currently on staff? I get the hire, but this could have been done 3 months ago right? This is a step for west but it seems like just someone to fill the void unitl they get themselves in better position.. One thing is for sure,, he is old school and very disciplined,, and that will be good for west..

One of the biggest problems at WC, Including the much improved seasons under Chip English is lack of discipline. Even under coach English in his last two season's where he had some pretty good teams they lacked discipline . That won't fly with Coach Big. My only concern with Big is his age but his teams will be disciplined and fundamentally sound! As far as his assistants, they will coach under his system which will be much different than that of previous WC coaches. He'll emphasize discipline, fundamentals, and physicality. His teams were always hard hitting

He coached my dad at Freedom and I have heard good things from when he was at West Caldwell and East Burke. Hope it works out for him except for 1 Friday night a year.

Great hire! West Caldwell better thank the football Gods That a coach of Mike Biggerstaffs caliber would take on this Gravy train of a Job. He will do well and take the old school approach. But in 3 years when he ready to give it up, its the Tom brown scenario at East Burke all over again and look at how bad East Burke has been since then. He is respected throughout the state and I just pray the dumpster fire that was west Caldwell football changes for the better....

Good hire to stop the wheel from turning the wrong way. I like Coach Biggerstaff and hope he has the stamina and energy to get the Warrior program going in the right direction. Hopefully he can mentor the next coach and monitor the progress to keep the football competitive in Gamewell.

Good luck to a veteran coach from all of us other veterans!

So what if the guy is 70?? I think he’s older than that really 72 73ish I’m not sure but what inspired me is Penn States coach in Patrano.( prob spelled wrong) dude was late 80s maybe 90 I’m guessing before he stepped down and later died?? As long as Big has his mind, health, and can move around the man can coach. His old success though at West while there in the long past was having kids back then that stayed in their districts. Also Hibriten at times back then was about what East Burke/last years West team is now. No West kids playing at Hibriten like many will arigue happens today. I have no idea if it happens, I don’t live up there and that’s a 4 and 5 page thread all by itself concerning WC boys playing for Hibriten. In other words Big may not have the calibure of kids to work with that he had in the 80s. Could he do a better job, oh absolutely but I wouldn’t expect any black n blue upsets just yet but do expect closer games since Hibriten lost Lewis and 20 plus seniors lol.

I believe West plays North Lincoln early on in nonconference action. Norths coming off a great season with first year coach and old adversary of Bigs- coach Bazzel. If this game is even close, West is on their way and Big will have a nice measuring stick on this to go on.
