So, If they were spending twice that on a new DC for the same results, you'd be okay with it?

Bottom line is, if they spend what they spend and are producing, why does it matter who makes what?
What I'm saying is stoops is now doing his job for him. He is calling the plays, not Eliot. We are giving almost 600 grand to basically a glorified LBer coach. If the CEO has to do the general managers job then there's not a reason to keep the general manager.

There are HCs all over college football who are their own OC/DC both in name and in reality. Eliot is also OLB coach(read Allen/Ware) and those guys are playing pretty well. He stays.
Thank You! This is a young team they where going to struggle some early. Eliot is a proven coach and he handles all the gameplanning and also tells coach Stoops what he sees upstairs. You dont fire a quality coach who you have 20 years experience with

I understand. My point being, UK could be out the buyout for Eliot and the cost of the sho-nuff level DC the folks in this thread are clamoring for... and there is no guarantee the defense would improve more than it has this year.

The bottom dollar expense and how it is divvied up is moot if the results continue to be there. Who cares where the money is going? If it bothers you that bad, just pretend Eliot is calling the plays. I'd venture to ask Stoops if $500k/year to one random coach is worth what is happening right now. That's all I'm saying.

Now, if we start backsliding on defense, this thread will suddenly manufacture an actual point and merit. As it stands, it's just ridiculous.

Again- This is the best this defense has looked in YEARS and you folks are wanting to change things for the sake of appeasing your own opinions, which, apparently, carry more value than an improved defense. Lol. Bravo.

I doubt anything will change no matter how the rest of the season goes. The Kentucky setup is similar to a lot of schools such as West Virginia under Holmgren and Louisville with Petrino...although in those cases the head coaches are offensive play callers. We all knew Stoops was a defensive specialist from his previous stint. He now is more comfortable with that aspect while letting Gran run the offense. It certainly shows. How many three and outs did the defense have BEFORE Stoops took over the play calling compared to after?

I dont think Stoops will fire him.

I agree - if things continue as they are going now - then why would you fire him? Regardless of what people are saying - this staff and the team seem to be on the same page. We have hired enough co-ordinators and assistants the last few years. The only reason he leaves is if Stoops REALLY wants him gone at this stage.

Go Big Blue!

Why would I, it's irrelevant. He would still get Nebraska money if he came to UK as DC, but get paid more as a UK DC than a YSU head coach.

Well if he wasn't getting paid from Nebraska he would have asked for a lot more at YSU. YSU got a deal.
